Romo may have a little quicker release but I don't think I've ever seen him make a throw Sanchez can't. They're both fairly mobile with good escapability, throw well on the move and can improvise to make things happen as a play breaks down. Both can also throw well from the pocket and have about average arm strength for an NFL QB. They're also both about the same height and weight. Obviously Romo is the more polished QB and is a better QB at this point in his career. Do you really think so? I never thought it was THAT bad. I agree that Romo has a little quicker release. I wouldn't compare him to Rodgers. I never heard Cowherd make that comparison but I'm glad someone agrees.
I don't think that Sanchez's release is one of the slowest in the league, but it often seems like it because he takes a long time to decide where to throw--as a result, he's often getting rid of the ball with a pass rusher right on his back (hence all the fumbles.)
Per Adam Schefter: (1 hour ago). Todd Haley will have lengthy meeting with Rex, Tannenbaum, and Sparano today in Florham Park. #JETS Make it so Tanny.
Great great news. Don't let him leave without signing the dotted line! Huge fan of this if it happens.
updates needed as soon as something is known for those of us who have self-exiled themselves from sports talk radio and television
I would like to see Haley brought in. Very interesting combo with Sparano, tactically and also personality-wise. I am intrigued.
I would contend that while his actual release may not be that slow (it is compared to a Brady or especially a Rodgers, but then again, those guys are elite class), the amount of time it takes between when he commits to making a throw, and when the ball leaves his hand, is too long. This is a product of a few factors: 1) He does have longer arms, though this is in no way an undesirable factor, it just means an extra split second. 2) He is not decisive in his progressions, and 3) It just takes him a long damn time to throw the football. This (combined with his medium height) is why we see so many batted passes, because once he commits defensive linemen see it and get in his lane as he's throwing the ball. I think this is also why we see a lot more fumbles in the throwing process; it's just a larger window for defenders to swipe the ball away. These really aren't all that bad, and I am a big Sanchez supporter. But he has to work on this release problem, stop telegraphing his throws, and in general play better next year to keep my support.
I love this idea sparano and haley have worked well together in the past (06 cowboys) there both no nonsense coaches wich is something this offense desperately needs and it allows rex to put more focus on the defense if this happens watch out for the jets in 2012
If Sparano and Haley are running one side of the ball, Parcells' shadow is already cast on 50% of the organization. Parcells is addicted to running football organizations. That's what he does, period. He looks uncomfortable in a tv studios no matter how much knowledge and wisdom he delivers. Always looks like he has one ear on Meshawn and one ear on an offer from his agent. If Rex and Tannenbaum fail us in THEIR roles again(*) next year , then I bet Bill Parcells is back in 2013 as NY Jets football czar or whatever he wants to call himself these days. *I blame Tanny for lack of depth & subpar starters like Hunter/Mulligan 1,000X more than I blame Schotty's playcalling. I blame Rex for handing out "C's" on jerseys to stars instead of leaders, and for losing control of the asylum more than I blame the inmates for acting like inmates.

GTFO Fat wrinklebags needs to stay away and anyone hiring him at this point deserves its own spiral into mediocrity. His coaching tree has enough fingerprints all over the NFL. that being said the only thing hes good for is making role players out of other teams cast offs. developing young talent? not so much.
I don't understand the blaming of Tanny for the lack of depth on this team? Tanny is not evaluating this teams talent, that's Rex' job.I doubt Tanny goes around making football decisions. What I can see blaming Tanny for is not writing up a contract to Holmes with clauses in it to protect against certain problems that he has a reputation for bringing to a team.
