Now preseason isn't anything? Wow! It's basically a try out. A try out that the staff saw fit to exclude Hack from. So playing Geno, since most of you "slow builders" believe is the way, makes more sense than playing Hack? If Geno is being cut, why would they play him? Hack is a over drafted project, that we don't need. For example, When one of our o line players go down, and we have to plug in some project, and suddenly we can't keep our QB's upright, maybe you will see. Doubt it
How important was Manning to the Broncos last Super Bowl numb nuts? Without linemen, QBs get crunched, just like Nacho in the preseason a couple years ago. Cam Newton was the best QB to play in the Super Bowl last year, right? How did all that pressure work on him? You need to go back to pop warner, not me.
Teams are desperate to find the next Tom Brady, not Christian Hackenberg. If you don't know that football is about controlling the line of scrimmage, then you don't even know what team we have here. Football is won and lost on the line, not QBs! The 2000 Ravens are laughing at you. Tom Brady has won how many superbowls out of how many attempts? His best season ever, statistically with Moss got beat by what score? By a team that dominated the line of scrimmage. You just don't know do you?
The other point that needs to be made with regards to Hack not playing yet in a preseason game is the OL he would be playing behind. What was one of his problems at PSU? Playing behind an awful OL. That is how he got into some bad habits and got his mechanics all screwed up. So it would not help Hack in the least to put him out there in the same position he was in at PSU playing behind an awful OL. Then there's also the chance he could get hurt playing behind those UPS drivers. His career could be over before it started if he suffered a torn rotator cuff. Then there's be no overhauling his mechanics after this season is over. The other, larger issue was that the Jets needed to see what they had in Petty to determine whether or not to keep 4 QBs on the roster. If Petty hadn't played well in the preseason games, he could have been cut in an effort to sneak him onto the PS. As it is, it looks like he's worked himself into the competition for the backup spot and Geno could be the odd man out.
This guy thinks Hack was drafted cause we didn't have Fitz signed is the dumbest thing i have ever heard lmao. If you read what Mac has said from day one Hack was never going to play this year period even if Fitz wasn't signed. We would then go out and trade or sign a vet to play. He drafted him based on draft board and potential and I love everything about this kid. I really hope he makes some of you choke on your spit...
Seriously "NCJets fan", are you "Junc"? I'm beginning to believe so, you have all the same ideas he did.
And when you choke on yours? So we needed to reach in the 2nd round for a clip board holder, when we have so many other glaring needs? Choke on that, this season and the next, and the next, until we find out if Hack can even play at all. That is stupid drafting.
Maybe because he sucks & Jets never shoulda wasted a 2nd rnd pick on a QB, when there O-line is so bad....Maybe ????
I'm a lot more interested in Petty who was an awesome college QB and is showing some serious promise this preseason than I am of Hackenberg. Macc f'd up on Hack. It's ok. No GM is perfect. I'd love to see Petty snag the backup role this year but they'll probably grandfather it to Geno.
Very simple. They're using the preseason to get the best look they can at Geno and Bryce Petty. They have a big decision to make there. 1. Are they going to carry 4 QBs or 2. Will they cut either Geno or Bryce/try and get Bryce on the PS.
Keep yelling like a little kid in a candy store and keep talking like you are employed in the NFL and have more knowledge than the guys doing the drafting. We have been stuck with mediocre QBs since forever and your mad that our FO is drafting a guy they believe will be a good if not great player cause he wont play this year. Have you ever heard of Aaron Rodgers, prob not your not old enough. You sound really delusional but carry on little kid, I can tell when Im speaking to someone under the age of 18. Continue yelling and being a internet sensation that knows it all lmfao.
I think ur right, but next season may be too soon (for Petty to start and Hack to BU). 2017 will most likely have Fitz back for one last season while Petty takes the full BU roll and Hack gets a lot of practice reps. 2018 Petty starts, Hack backs him up. And we can go back to the old adage "The BU QB is the most popular player on the team". How long after that before Hack takes the job from Petty is any ones guess. Lets see if either of them can play first.
Could it be he's just an idiot? Maybe. He's not the only one who is incapable of grasping that a team is built with the future in mind, and the NFL is a different animal than it was back when men were men and sheep were scared. lol
It's actually the other way around, dude's delusional and an old fart and believes OL is more important than QB. Then he'll tell you that you don't watch football and that you need to stop talking about soccer.
You bet. Tb also suggests that he played the game. He talks a lot about Pop Warner and Madden too - how can you begin to disagree with a guy like that?
Good point, especially about the o-line. After PS #1, there was an article in NYDN about how hard it is to play with 3rd/4th string guys. Very little talent, discipline, etc. Even in PS #2, Petty got hit A LOT...he got drilled as he released his first TD pass, and again on his 40 yrd toss to that skinny WR. As far as cutting Geno, that's a no brainer. For a team with a good starting QB with little or no injury history. Mac doesn't have either in Fitz. No one knows how he's gonna play, or even how man games before he get hurt. Cutting a BU who's won 12 NFL games for a BU who's never taken a snap is the kind of decision that could get a GM fired....think of worst case.
