However, unlike Pennington, there were no pick 6's and no INTS in 39 passing attempts. The similarity ends there!

Well, he did throw a terrible pick that was called back, but he should have had 2 more TD's as well.

Take away the penalty and drops and he would have had 40 attempts with 3 TD's and 1 INT. Still a stat line that Chad could only have dreamed of.

LOL Greg McElroy will be lucky to sniff half the success of Chad Pennington.

Unless we get some better backup linemen, he wont live long enough to be compared to Pennington.

I really liked the way McElroy looked the other night, and it only further confirmed my initial thought that he would make for the perfect backup QB. Later in his career, I know it'll give me peace of mind to know that this guy is ready to go if God forbid some shit goes down with the Dirty.

You meaned the designated second stringer is going to get fewer opportunities as a chosen starter? Do go on.

There's a reason why Chad was the "chosen starter" and McElroy was not. While I think he can be a solid backup, there are too many physical limitations, imo, for him to ever become a good starter, which is what Chad was. Many of you fail to admit or acknowledge that Mr. Pennington was quite good when healthy.

Let's not get into this, though, let's keep the subject to McElroy. I'll admit his arm strength was alarmingly bad on some deep throws, but let's hope that's due to not being able to step into his throws like some of you have said.

I was pointing out that your observation was obvious.

You don't need to explain why it's more obvious.

Some idiots here really think McElroy is better than Pennington, though. Has nothing to do with playing time.

Who said that McElroy was going to be like Pennington?

    Because no one did.

My emotions regarding McElroy swung during the flow of the game from the initial "this is the suckiest suck who ever sucked" to "Championship!" Now I know how Annakin Skywalker must have felt when he changed to the dark side:

Sidious: Turn to the dark side.
    AS: Never!
    Sidious: Do it.
    AS: Ok.

Talk about your rollercoaster of emotions!

Sorry to bump this, but I want to say my opinion on McElroy that I stated after game one has changed, and I wanted to thank this poster for dropping in with the info here. He is impressing people.

There's no way to tell whether he's got what it takes to start in this league, but it's not too early to tell he's got a lot of good qualities, and he can not be dismissed easily.
