I disagree with two TEs and then Wesco as the 3rd. No way. That would almost totally preclude any 2 TE formations.

As far as the OL there's great flexibility there. Both McGovern and Feeney can play both C and OG. Fant can fill in on the OL anywhere but C. AVT can play OT if need be.

Where I think we have too many players is at CB. Having quantity won't make up for quality. DE could have too many as well (5). Who knows, maybe Zuniga or Huff don't play well in TC or someone gets injured.

There's a lot of ways we can go, and if everyone has a good TC, then cuts are going to be tough.

I disagree. Having 2 TE means you can run 2 TE sets.

Fant has never played OG in his life and IMO he doesn’t have the density for the position. He’s good with speed rusher but has struggled to date against power rushers; power rushers is who he’d face on the inside.

CBs are often used for gunnars so I see why more are on the roster than expected.

Saleh believes in rotating the DL to keep the team fresh so I believe they will have a lot rotating in.

Just my opinion, let’s see how it all plays out.

My guess is they end up with 9 DL with Marshall going to the PS. In regards to CBs it depends on how well they do. Hall seemed to have a great camp, they seem really high on Michael Carter in the slot, the same for Pinnock and Dunn on the otherside. Guidry is in competition with Carter. It would be an upset if Bless does not make the team. Hardee is a lock to make the team as a ST. Add in Eichols who can play slot or outside and that is 8 for 7 likely spots.

I like that we have young corners. There will be growing pains as they get reps but in Salehs system the emphasis is on the pass rush not CBs. Hopefully our rush will give them a greater margin of error.

I think that Marshall is more likely to get signed off the PS than Echols. I just don't see the need to keep Echols on the roster. Carter II and Guidry should be locks unless they have an awful TC. If one of them gets injured they can always sign Echols from the PS or let Joyner play the slot, although he never played it well with Oakland. I think Austin, Hall, Hardee, Carter & Guidry should make the team and only one of Dunn/Pinnock, unless Austin struggles in TC. Then they could keep both, and put Austin on the PS.

My guess is 6 cbs plus Hardee and 9 DL. One of the rookie CBs goes to the PS or gets hurt. In my scenario Marshall would also go to the PS. Either way it is going to be really tight fitting all these young players on the roster. I would be shocked if all the rookie cbs turned out good even though the ota reviews were all good. They can't all work out?

I tend to agree it will be 7 cb with hardee included plus only 9 dl. JFM can play inside or out so he is definitely the 9th on my list. I also think we will have 8 oline, as the rules allow us to have more players on game day as long as it includes 8 oline.

All that said I do not have a problem with our current QB setup. I don't see a vet out there I would pay and we drafted Morgan for a reason. Either he wins the job now, or goes on PS and white gets the job. White looked very good last offseason let's hope he improved.

Hope you are right about the backup QB situation because I think the jets would be unwise to go with Morgan and White. I still haven't read many positive things about Morgan as a pro, either last year or this year. Just because we drafted him "for a reason" does not mean you must keep/play him. We drafted Vernon Gholston to be a pass rusher.
White was waived 4 different times by the jets last year, and obviously went unclaimed every time by other teams. Not saying that either CAN'T do the job, but Luke Falk looked great in preseason in 2019 and look what happened. Without a reliable backup, everything else the jets did in the offseason is irrelevant if Wilson goes down and the backup stinks. A few years ago, the Vikings lost starting QB Bridgewater for the season to a non-contact injury at a summer practice.

If one of the guys on the roster doesn’t prove to be a capable backup then they need to make a move to find one. I’m all for developing your own talent but QB specifically has too much of an impact on all other positions on offense to risk having a scrub at the position.

It is a fair point but can you name me a VET QB available right now that isn't already a proven scrub?

That is the point about trying to develop your own backups, they know your system and can slot in when required.

The only possibility is the HOF-bound Foles and he isn't even available yet.

    I can’t, though I can’t check right now either.

It’s pretty clear that there’s a QB shortage when Darnold is an immediate starter, though.

Let’s just hope we don’t have to find out..

You can blame Gase for not developing the younger QB's on the roster. It's not their fault they got zero NFL experience. Gase just chose not to play either of them in a 2-14 season. Why? who the fuck knows... At least now they're getting a decent shot at staying on the roster. One of them will make the roster. Just not sure which one..

Don't upset yourself by looking too hard at them, RG3 is the best left on there.

I'd much rather develop our own backups in Morgan/White etc but Matt Moore is a decent option.

    Matt Moore;
    16-16 overall (.500%).
    60.1% completion percentage.
    49 TDs/36 INTs.
    QB Rating of 82.8.

In 2019 he went 59/91 (64.8%), 4 TDs/0 INTs with a QB Rating of 100.9 for Kansas City.

and imo is a much better backup option than both Fitz/McCown combined because if good enough to backup Patrick Mahomes for two years (under Andy Reid) well then I believe he's also worthy of backing up Zach Wilson.

Thanks for posting this link. Yikes, what an awful list of QBs!!!

I'm not sure the list is accurate for other positions however.

Isn't Larry Fitzgerald still with the Cardinals? I thought Kenny Stills was still on the Bills as well. Josh Doctson was signed by the Vikes a week or two ago. Has he already been released?

One TE on the list is a bit surprising...is Jesse James not on a team? Just a year or two ago, he was considered a good young TE who was a good blocker and receiver.

Jason Spriggs is only 27. He must be truly awful to not have a job as at least a backup somewhere. He has or had a bunch of talent. I'm shocked that he's never developed into at least a solid OT.

At LB, KJ Wright, Patrick Onwuasor, and Kwon Alexander are still available. That's a little surprising.

Zane Gonzalez and Roberto Aguayo are still available at K, as is Kai Forbath.

As an FSU fan I still can't understand what happened to this kid he was our greatest FG kicker ever. Had NCAA ice water running through his veins.

    69/78 FGs (88.5%).
    198/198 on XP's (100%).

Now he can't crack a roster spot? So weird to me.
