Nah for the 1st time a Pat fan (Grogan) is realizing that BF has dramatically changed the dynamics in the AFCE & he is now attempting to rationalize away that change so that he can still be comfortable with the knowing that his Pats are kings of the AFCE. He is just trying to comfort his own mind so he can sleep better at nite by bringng up all kind of this & thats. Come week 2 we will see on both sides if we have actually closed the gap between us & the cheats
He was awful against the Giants last year and he pretty much sucked against SD the year before and got lucky. Manning ate his lunch in the playoffs in 06.
Grogan, no one here thinks Favre is gonna win us 14 games and the superbowl. We're just happy that we're going to have a QB who can throw the ball more than 10 yards.
It will be interesting to see the Pats have to defend outside the hash marks and down the field against us for the first time in years.
you raise a good point, WB....the Pats did NOTHING to upgrade their secondary after they lost Samuel and Gay to FA....they have Ellis Hobbs, and he's more of a kick return threat. Maybe they'll bring back Troy Brown to play CB. I wish i could've been a fly on the wall in the Pats FO for the collective "Oh shit!", when the Favre trade was announced. Edit: I also don't consider a broken-down, old Fernando Bryant an upgrade either.
He wasn't awful against the giants, he wasn't great but he did lead them on the TD that gave them the lead late in the game, if the D holds on in the final 2 mins the Pats win again. he did get lucky against SD but again he led them on the tying and winning drives. Manning had a great 2nd half(the first time he had ever outplayed Brady in January and his only good half of possteason football in any rd besides the WC rd) but Brady still led his O to 27 points, the D blew the 21-3 lead and Brady answered THREE times after the colts tied it up but the Pats D collpased late like it did in the SB.
Exactly what I am getting to which Grogan now realizes & is trying to write it all off with the mythical negatives he posts which allows him to sleep better at nite because he finally sees us as a threat to them. BF like TB can utlize all parts of the field which should give other DC nitemares (see Pats last season). I am sure Woody did not spend all that money this off season to be second best to the Pats at our home opener or even for that matter week 1 in Miami
Brady has been outplayed by the opposition QB in multiple games in the last 3 playoffs. He's one of the elite QB's in the league but he isn't the same guy under pressure that he was when he wasn't under as much pressure.
Every QB struggles against pressure, Brady is still BY FAR the best in the NFL and BY FAR the best of his generation. it's funny how guys like Manning and the other top QBs can get 4-5-6-7-8 poor postseason games but Brady has 1-2 and all of a sudden he's not that great anymore.
He's played on the best teams in football for years and may well have had the oppositions signals for years. The last 3 years he was outplayed by Plummer, Manning and Manning and in all 3 casses lost. Last years SB performance was an outright choke maybe the single biggest in NFL history. Moss was running wild in the Giants secondary and so was Welker. HOF QB but you really have your nose way up his ass cheeks. System guy who went from playing clean games in playoffs to making key turnovers in playoff games.
Please, if you think Pats fans, or me, are worried about the Jets this season your sadly mistaken. Favre is an upgrade no doubt but the reality is with Favre at the helm I'm more comfortable with the Pats secondary then Penny. Chad threw Ints because he can't make the throws, Favre throws them because he can't read defenses well and is easily frustrated, add that the fact the he belives he can make any throw and you get a loss. Jet fans may want to take a look at his record in the playoff over the last6 years and see exactly how the games where lost, I'll give you a hint, INT. I have the over under on Favre Ints aginst the PAts in two games this season at 4 and will be betting the over. The bottom line is Jet fans are going way over the top with this Favre thing and in about 3 weeks it won't be enough for them to have a QB that can trow the ball more then ten yards, they'll want the dream Qb the spent the last few weeks creating in their head.
This dude has been playing for 17 years and you don't know how he plays the game? He's a gunslinger. He forces the ball into coverage not because he can't read a defense, he wouldn't be in the league this long, but because he has the arm to do it and he doesn't care. Last year, he reformed himself and began to check down more and trust his receivers and he threw the least INTs in his career since 1996. Kliff Kingsbury can't read a defense.
We all C around 1915 hours or so week 2 who was more right. Until then take all ur negatives about BF as you head hits the pillow every nite so you can sleep well. Just remember people have posted those same negatives about ur TB
Imagine we start 2-0 for the season? Does anyone realize the fuckin mayhem that will ensue in the NFL if that happens? It'll be the most symphonic chaos throughout the football media we've seen in decades. Please happen....
Favre in Denver last year: youtube.com/watch?v=V_6LcGbHxR8 He had another amazing one in that game, wish I could find it on youtube. He scorched Bly and Bailey both.
Theismann knows these odds all too well. There's a 1 percent chance of Theismann getting something right and a 99 percent chance of him getting something wrong.
What an idiot. That is cause it was tailored to Chad Pennington. Good everyone doubt us. I don't give a shit. We'll be there in the end!! :jets:
