Theismann said that there is a 99% chance oa a downside. I'll take 90% of last years Farve. That's still very good.
Why??? Is it really so hard for Jet fans to understand that Favre could fail big time as a Jet??? Or that others can see major writing on the wall and think he will flat out fail as a Jet? Sorry but there are major concerns with Favre and if Jet fans want to stay in this little dream world thats fine, they have about three more weeks before the alarm goes off and they'll have to wake up.
Go you to read the article (in another city) so its a great piece even if he actually doesnt believe it himself
Even if it turns out to be true -- it would not make it a MISTAKE. Pennington for Favre straight up (more or less) was a no brainer. Nothing is ever certain. Sometimes you make decisions in business that dont work out -- and you decide that you would, based on the facts known, make the same decision again.
Absolutely. He is an all-time great obviously but he doesn't crack my top 5 and w/ choices like Montana, Graham and Unitas how can Elway possibly be in the top 2?
People can have different opinions - Hell, finheaven morons think that the Jets lockerroom is divided now (Huh? Where did you get THAT from?) My two cents here: Steve Young thinks this is a tremendous move (ESPN interview) I'd say Steve Young is 10000000 times more reliable than Joe "Broken Leg" Theismann
No doubt it was the right move, Favre gives the Jets a better chance without question. However there are a great many Jet fans just losing their minds and all touch with reality over this. This can still be the right move an fail.
So what are these concerns exactly? I understand he is learning a new system, but they guy has played football for the better part of his life. Something tells me he will be able to learn new plays in time. The thing that bothers me about articles like this is that its like all of our other off season moves are being forgotten about ever since Favre came in. He isnt coming onto the same 4-12 team we had last year. I can see that writing on the wall clear as day.
Very true. They have spent a ton of dough shoring up alot of other weak areas. Barring injuries they should feild a substantially better team than last years.
Who would have thought that Brady would suck against Denver 3 years ago, the Colts two years ago or the Giants last year? Its a crap shoot.
First off he's a 39 year QB that said himself that he's out of shape 4 weeks before the season. (Concern) Second he never played in this system or with these players, and thinking just because he's a 16 year vet it will be like butter, is unrealistic, add to that the fact he's got a history of just chucking the ball down field when things get rough doesn't exactly help things. (Concern) Third, no matter what Jet fans want to belive, the fact is Favre never wanted to be a Jet, he wanted be a Bear or Viking, at least a Buc, but Green Bay had him by the balls and he had two choices Jet Green or the couch. Look there are plenty of concerns and out side of all of them it was still the right move for the Jets at the end of the day, but what I see happening is disapointment for Jet fans no matter what because their expectations are so far out of wack with reality.
Any Pats fan that actually saw Grogan play can't be a bandwagon troll. This guy probably took his licks good and bad with the Pats and probably knows his football? Its the off season give him a chance.
Why because I don't think Brett Favre is going to win the Jets 14 games and a trip to the Super Bowl? If so then there's alot of Trolls out there.
All true but he is still a substantial upgrade over Pennington and it appears that our young QB's while showing talent and upside aren't ready yet. It's a move that at least shows that management believes the team is a win now team and they filled the biggest hole with the best available player and one who last year played at an elite level.
Hey Slapnuts...trust me when i tell you this....if Favre didn't want to be here, he wouldn't have ok'd the trade.....the guy easily could've taken a 20 million dollar payday to sell hotdogs up in Lambeau for the next couple of years....but he didn't. So please.....get your head out of your ass.
