how can someone infer that a player looks ready for NFL primetime when playing against players who, except for a handful, will NOT be on an NFL roster in 2013? Please explain...

    Sanchez left the building

On the way to the hospital, probably for an MRI. If his shoulder is hurt and he's out for the year ,maybe that will force Idzik to fire the Clown right now. Either way, we are done. We have no QB's, HC is horrible and our pass defense is terrible. Might as well accomplish something, get rid of him now instead of January. A wasted season is approaching. You got your head up your ass if you dont see this coming. Tonight just re-affirmed all this.

As usual, A delusional Sanchez fanatic is missing the point, entirely.

Mark has a long, pronounced history of committing careless, boneheaded, game-changing turnovers. For weeks, he has been fighting for his job in the first legitimate quarterback competition of his career. No longer are things being handed to him. He can't make the kind of disastrous mistakes . . . the kind of mistake he made AGAIN tonight, anymore. He just can't. He won't survive many more of them.

I am not a Sanchez fanatic. I am a NYJ fan who wants to move forward. I am also not a kool aid drinker. I am the one who KNOWS the biggest issue isn't and hasn't been Sanchez. I am the one arguing that you could put most NFL QB's behind center for the NYJ's and have similar, plus or minus a bad play, results.

This team could be like Rich Kottie bad. I could easily see us winning no more 3-4 games.

    Statistically speaking:

Sanchez turned the ball over on roughly 16.6% of his pass attempts tonight.

Smith turned the ball over on 10% of his pass attempts.

    uhm . . . Seriously?

The difference is that Geno Smith is a rookie, who happened to make his very first NFL start tonight. Meanwhile, Mark Sanchez is beginning his 5th fucking season as an NFL quarterback. He's made over 50 career starts in the NFL. He's played in 6 playoff games. The fact that you are sincerely comparing Geno Smith's turnovers to Mark Sanchez's turnovers is patently absurd.

    A turnover is a turnover

Sanchez has 52 in 2 years

Yeah, I said roughly because he couldn't manage to actually turn that into an attempt. He's fucking awful. Geno Smith's turnovers are what you expect for a rookie QB. Mark Sanchez's turnover tonight is what you would expect from a 5 year old girl.

On two pathetically manufactured offenses. You see - cause and effect. This is not to defend Mark Sanchez. This is to be baffled by a fan base, Ray Lucas, Adam Schein, Jenkins, LT, who ever else, that has placed a majority of the blame on Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez should have not played period . He is the only guy with experience that could give geno time to learn. Geno is no way ready for week 1 . Maybe by our 3rd or 4th game he will have a better understanding of marty's system . WCO takes smarts and timing.

The Jets offense was filled with talent in 09 and 10, and was decent in 11. Sanchez has no excuse.

But what good is "experience" if you still play like a rookie?

Yes, people with functioning eyes have placed a lot of the blame on Mark Sanchez. He sucks.

Geno's 3 only cost us 3 points. Sanchez week 1 pre season game cost us 7 on his first play from scrimage. But in no way 3 turnovers usually lead to wins.

    Happily!!! Thanks for asking!

If you can...go back and watch the game, play by play...maybe you can rewind too?

From the moment GeeSMith took the first snap he looked tentative. He had what we call "happy feet" He never looked comfortable and he never planted when he threw. In fact his mechanics looked horrible! From top to bottom. It's not necessarily about the players he was playing against. It was more of a demeanor. GeeSmith looked like he didn't want to BE there... It wouldn't have mattered the "string" of players. He looked exactly the same week 1...I just finished going back and watching.

On the other hand, Simms played with conviction. He read the defense, right or wrong, was decisive with his decision and executed. His pocket presence was spot on and he moved within the pocket and scrambled when needs be. He also showed outstanding arm strength on that cross body throw that went for 70 yds. The same...last week for the little time he came in he was decisive. He shows leadership qualities that GeeSmith doesn't show yet.

Say what you want about Nacho...he has leadership qualities. Unfortunately for him he lets the mental part get in the way.

Now, I can't say why this is. Maybe Simms is "looser" than Smith right now...the weight of the Jet Nation is not on Simms' shoulders. He can go out there and gun sling all he wants...no one expects anything from him. Or, maybe we have a guy on our roster who maybe that rare diamond that needs a bit of honing. I, personally, feel GMac is the same. His problem is his physical "tools" aren't quite as pronounced as Simms. But, given time and practice, I feel GMac could lead this team better than Nacho or Smith as well. Simms is simply more intriguing because of the arm.
