What I don't like about the article is that Rex is as much to blame about the missing pieces on offense as anyone. The author totally ignores this.

You don't think Rex has had any say in the players brought in? How about when they are there - Rex and his staff can't coach up offensive football players?

Next they are looking at jut two isolated games to come to their conclusion that Rex can coach. How about the onslaught last thanksgiving vs. the Pats? Still think Rex can flat out coach? How about the dolphin games the last few years in which they showed up completely unprepared and almost disinterested?

Also, I don't think Thursday's loss was all that impressive. A good team / good staff wins that one by double figures with how out of sync New England is.

I don't anyone is comparing Rex to Vince Lombardi....... and people talk about being "out of sync"..... well what about the JETS? Their offensive weapons suck, and they were playing a 2nd rd pick in his 2nd game, not a 1st ballot HOF QB...... who through 3 INTs in crunch time.
Yes, it was their chance to take one, but you have to consider the circumstances for it not happening.

Double digit underdogs against the Patriots and it should have been a double figures win? What are you smoking the Patriots still have a HOF coach and QB we have a rookie QB with worse weapons than the Patriots.

If you said with Mark we win by double figures I agree Geno is just to raw. You don't win in the NFL by scoring two TDS in two games.

The entire coaching staff from Rex down to the guy who washes out the jock straps is in a Contract Year, just like some players.

They'll never coach harder than this year when the whole lot of them could be cleaning out their desks in 3 months.

The fact that we don’t have anyone on our professional football team who can catch a punt is a joke.

Good head coaches hire their assistants and coordinators. Rex doesn’t seem too interested in doing this because he has no vision for other good coaches. If you cant recognize good coaching in others how good of a coach are you?

Rex is easily in the bottom bracket of the HC’s in this league.

Unfortunately, you've pretty much lost all credibility around here.

So, although what you said is probably true - that Rex is one of the best coaches in the league - it just sounds like the village blind homer is blathering again.

    Sucks for you.

that is like saying the Pats aren't very good because a good team would have beaten the Jets by double digits with how many mistakes they had.

    Hc

Any new GM is looking for an HC who will coach the whole team. Rex sealed his fate when he committed to the defense full time. He is almost telling the boss he is a coordinator at heart. The Jets seem to have a program in place if Smith can do the job. The next few weeks will be very very interesting.

I'm waving my BS flag. Almost all head coaches come from one side of the ball or the other. Why doesn't Payton coach the D on the Saints? Man that organization must be a mess!!! The head coach's job is to hire people that can run either side of the ball. If their strength is on one side of the ball, it makes sense to utilize that strength. That doesn't mean Payton doesn't hold the D accountable or Rex doesn't hold the O accountable. I mean obviously you think Sean Payton is a horrible coach since he focuses only on offensive coaching and playcalling right??? He's just a glorified OC!

Is everyone forgetting Chip Kelly? All you people bitching about Rex only knowing one side of the ball, obviously don't know the basics of coaching football. Almost every successful coach was good at one side of the ball.

Chip Kelly is basically the offensive coordinator. He calls a majority of the plays and knows how to run his offense effectively. He partakes in little to none of the defensive side.

impossible. football teams are clearly run with the philosophy that everyone is an expert in all facets of the organization. defensive coordinators are hired as head coaches to run the offense, the snack stand attendants help in marketing and the ticket takers also run security.
