They're stopping the Jets O. I don't know if that makes them beasts. I'm withholding conceding that the Jets are a top 5 defense until I see them against the Packers. I suspect the Jets are going to be passed on like crazy this year. People on this board like to say the Jets have an elite front 7. I don't think the linebackers are as strong as you people think. Front 4 is a top 3 unit.

Ok, I was pumped to finally have football back with this scrimmage, but something is making me think that maybe Vick should start. Geno finished today something like 6-14 with 85 yards and threw almost two interceptions against a defense that could not tackle him. He had all his weapons with Ivory, Johnson, and Decker and yet the only pass worth a damn was a 41 yard pass to Hill.

The offense scored zero TDs and we were back to our field goal bullshit.

Vick comes in, and just electrifies the field. Runs for over 30 yards, completes passes over the middle, and just flat out flys around the field. Vick was amazed at how good he feels at his age and Rex was in awe of his speed and escapability out of the pocket.

Granted, this is still very early, but we play Indy very very soon and the season is creeping up on us. Maybe it's time to give Vick some more first team reps and see what he's got. As of today, I am not happy with Geno. Not with that outing.

You happen to notice how much noticeably better Geno looked on the last drive playing against the 2nd team defense? That's who Vick played against the whole first "half" and half of his rushing yards came on one play where the defense completely lost him and no one was near him.

Let's relax a bit. If we made snap judgements after the first scrimmage and 10 days of camp, Greg Salas would be well on his way to Canton.

He jumped so that he could let the ball hit him square in the stomach. Par for the course.

Just got back from the G & W scrimmage (nice fireworks show afterwards-forecasted thunderstorms held off). Two TDs should've been scored, both by the defense: a "rumblin', stumbling" return of a recovered fumble by T.J. Barnes (#99) was thwarted by a horsecollar tackle by Jace Amaro at the 10 yard line (Jace!..instinct aside, he's your #%^&^*# teammate!) and Darren Walls (#30) jumping the route on an "out" and dropping a 70-ish yard pick six. Put it this way: Muhammad Wilkerson's a big Ranger fan, right? Well, he probably came off tonight's game (and lack of scoring) by thinking: "now I know how (King) Hank feels.."

We're just dropping off stuff back at the lodge, refreshing and going back into town for some adult beverages at Harry Tony's and who knows what (Jets usually have a private get together at a downstairs room next door…and some emerge to hang). Anyway, will put together a complete play-by-play log sequence of the game frpm start to finish, personnel, formations, down & distance, etc. tomorrow (after treating a possible hangover).

Looks to me like maybe he was trying to protect himself from the safety coming over the middle, If he tries to catch that in stride I'm pretty sure he gets nailed hard by Landry there. With how badly he has Peterson beet, I think Ideally in that situation you want the ball going over the outside shoulder of the WR to let him run down the sideline.

Regardless, He got tons of separation and then he went up above a CB ( and between a safety ) and actually came down with the ball. All positive things.

Another day and another long ball completion to Hill,.. Starting to be a consistent thing.

Keep it up big guy. Keep it up.

I don't think Rex this year will have the patience he had with Geno last season. It's not like we have Matt Simm sitting on the bench. How the hell do you not score on 4th and inches in a scrimmage?! Anymore of this BS, and Rex better get Vick ready to start.

Well, at least we are hearing good stuff about Hill. Decker is not a no 1 guy. Hopefully Hill can become one this season.

Who threw the pass that should have been the Walls pick 6? Was it a poor pass or a poor decision (a pass that just shouldn't have been thrown)?

You realize 3 of the 4 plays run on that goal line stand were runs right?
