Thank god. But at the same time, it's very alarming that someone actually thinks that. I've seen him post some pretty dumb things but if what you posted is in line with what he's actually said... yikes.
I'm not a big fan of cval's posts, but you can follow their exchange back to him mocking TNJet's penchant for humjobbing Tebow. The part that I laughed at was TNJet has never contributed a single useful post to this site since he registered. All one liner crap designed to troll people. Never understood why he was allowed to continue to post here.
i just think its hilarious how the receiver is being blamed for breaking his stride to catch an under thrown ball because they think that brandon marshall would most likely slow down enough without breaking stride and then stiff arm two defenders and score a touchdown
I find it amazing that there are so many physics experts that know the destination of a ball which was caught in a cradle by a player that jumped pretty fucking high in the air, and even started coming down before the defenders had a chance to tackle him. I don't like the way Hill caught the ball, but he caught it. But the people getting upset about the unfolding of the play are no more of a point than the people trying to shame them and stating that the ball could not have been caught with his feet on the ground. Get over the fucking play already. That doesn't just go for the people that are hating on Hill.
This board has hit a new low. Over 100 posts on a Stephen Hill catch in a scrimmage. Let's just forget the other 17 days of practice and hundreds of other plays. Let's dissect this catch for another 100 posts. What would have happened if the ball were an inch further in the air and Hill started his jump with the other foot? Would Julio Jones have scored on that play? Don Maynard? Let's start a poll over whether Hill should be cut or have a statue dedicated that the "scrimmage catch." I'm sick of all the Hill talk already. There are 90 players out there and all there is on this board is Hill. Yawwwwwwwn.
^^^ There you go. Exact exchange with the Mrs: How'd you like it? (ref. to the G & W scrimmage) It was good. What didn't you like? They didn't score. swear to god : )
I believe Rex is a great DC not a HC. Rex cannot lead to to his shortsightedness on the offensive side of the ball. If Geno struggles, which I hope he doesn't, Rex will do his best to stay with him instead of giving Vick the ball. Rex has a fear of change.
Kellen Clemens Mark Brunell (had to leave by 4:30 to make the dinner buffet Brunell, not the in his prime Brunell) Tim Tebow Matt Simms Those are the backup QBs the Jets have had during the previous 5 years with Rex as HC. None of them were NFL caliber starting QBs during their tenure, and yes that includes Tebow times 10. Vick is better than any of them and should instill some confidence in the backup QB situation. He was brought here not to compete with Geno but to replace him if the Geno experiment goes awry.
It's 100% a valid criticism of Hill...if he tries to catch it that way with the safety closing in it's an incomplete pass. WR's who know what they're doing attack the ball with their hands to catch it at it's furthest point away from the body. Hill's catch rate is awful because he gives defenders more opportunity than most to get their hands on the football. The split second he's waiting to receive the ball into his chest can be the difference between a completed pass and an incomplete pass. Look how Larry Fitzgerald catches passes if you want to know how a pro does it.
When you have ignorant arguments that are based on your love of one player you have to resort to name calling. I get it.
This was one pass. I am sure Fitz has had some awkward moments als0. With that being said I want to see him get better because you are correct most great receivers catch the ball as you state. There is one Lynn Swann that might argue with you though. (But he is an outlier not the norm)
