Groh ran those drafts, look at BPs track record and the 3 years before. Thankfully he allowed Groh to run that draft.

swings and misses? half his drafted players didn't make the team as rookies. He was AWFUL as drafting. all time great HC, mediocre evaluator of talent.

They were not built by Parcells. Year won they won w/ inherited players that hadn't been to postseason in 3 years.

    Let's look at the starters:

    2001:
pre BP(7): Chrebet, Anderson, Mo, Jones, Glenn, Coleman, Green
BP(8): Vinny, Curtis, Fabini, Mawae, Jenkins, Thomas, young, Farrior
Groh(5): Becht, Ellis, Abe, Coles, Burton
    TB(2): Martin, Robinson

    2002:
pre BP(4): Anderson, Chrebet, Mo, Jones
BP(5): Curtis, Mawae, Fabini, Thomas, Fergsuon
Groh(5): Chad, Coles, Becht, Ellis, Abe
TB(7): Szott, Kareem, Evans, Cowart, D. Abe, Garnes, Robinson

    2004:
    pre BP(0):
    BP(4): Curtis, Sowell, Fabini, Mawae,
    Groh(4): Chad, Becht, Abe, Ellis
TB(13): McCareins, Moss, Moore, Kareem, Kendall, Robertson, Hobson, Vilma, Barton, D. Abe, Barrett, Tongue, Coleman

It was easy b/c he didn't care about our future so he didn't care about the money or draft picks it cost.

I appreciate what parcells did, he turned us around as a COACH. he's an all time great coach, he did a terrible job acquiring players especially inheriting the #1 overall pick in 1997.

Namath is the most overrated player in the history of the game, if he had the same career today people like you and the rest of our fans would be running him out of town.

There's no way to have a rational argument with you if you are going to continue to say Groh ran "those drafts" - Groh hasn't run any draft in his life... Tuna was the GM.

You've resorted to making shit up.

I've posted it a million times over the years where BP himself stated Groh ran those drafts. It's pretty simple to see, 1997-1999 awful drafts, 2000 good draft.

And the Tuna never told a lie to the media? The guy retired and un-retired countless times.

That's not stating that Groh ran that draft anyway, that's saying he's ceding those powers to him. As in eventually. Anyone who knows a thing about the draft knows that it's completely unreasonable for a guy to take over at the end of January and know who he wants to draft in April..scouting takes a long time. This year Idzik's draft will have a lot of Bradway/Tannenbaum's finger prints on it.

If Groh was GM/Coach there's no way he resigns at the end of the year. Not a chance in hell.

I didn't say Groh did everything but Groh had the power and made the final calls. That is clear in the quality of the drafts compared to the garbage we had the previous 3 years.

so if he wasn't GM/coach it's reasonable to resign his first HC job w/ supposedly a stacked lineup built by the great exec Bill parcells?

It has to be Nugent, Brady and Mitchell as worst. You don't EVER draft a tight end in the first round or a kicker in the second round. The fact that they all sucked is icing on the cake. I'm so glad I wasn't old enough to care during those abomination of picks.

At least with Gholston they had the right idea taking a potential dominating pass rusher early on. They whiffed horribly, but at least the pick itself made a lick of sense.

I could amend a couple names that should be on both sides of that list.

    The Good:
John Riggins 1971 #6 pick in the draft, in 5 seasons with the Jets he ran for nearly 4,000 yards (back in the 14 game seasons) Of course he had his best years with the Redskins, but never the less he was a good one.

    The Bad:
Carl Barzilauskas: #6 pick in the draft...never heard of him? I think only his family remembers.
