I always thought that it was good to let a rookie sit on a bench for a couple years before they start.

Well shit I would have taken a receiver from both drafts! I agree 100% we should have gotten a better receiver this draft.

Imagine Keenan Allen and Jordan Matthews ... 2 great route runners that are physical and know how to play the game. Then pair those 2 up with Bridgewater.

We would be very excited about our future right now.

Great read. This brought me back down to earth a little. Holding hope that this is part of Idzik's plan because if he can get us anywhere near the type of organization of a Green Bay or Seattle, this dumpster of a season will be worth it.

Me too, then Flacco, Ryan, Big Ben, Wilson, Luck, and RGIII happened. Shifted perspective.

Well if you actually watch the games you would see that the supporting evidence for how well to date Idzik is executing the Thompson blueprint is weak in terms of the most important ingredient - TALENT procurement.

Emmanuel sanders would be the best WR on the Jets, This is evident based upon the eye test, with Idzik preferring to look at 2013 stats.

Arguably, Kelvin Benjamin would have been our best WR weapon. John Brown is dynamic. Jordan Mathews would have been infinitely better than Nelson.

In fact a 2014 WR lineup of Sanders and Benjamin was a very feasible scenario and one that was rejected despite the fact that it would have even better fit the Thompson blueprint. Instead Idzik sees talent in a couple of 4th round smurfs that look like whiffs.

Idzik liked what he saw in Geno enough in 2013 to say "no thanks" to Bridgewater. We will see how that rejected Idzik scenario plays out.

Idzik rejected a scenario of DRC or Cro or Revis (just 1 year. @12M, fairly Thompsonesque in its long term frugality). All 3 of these rejected candidates are playing significantly better than the Idzik selected options at CB. So actually DRC actually looks like a nice move byBig Blue.

Idzik did get a decent O-lineman but seems to have pissed away the $$$ spent on Johnson and Vick.

So as you seem to give him high fives for cap management and the 2015 flexibility to offer guys like Coples a long term deal such "positive" in my view is dwarfed by the D-/F grade with respect to the above moves (or lack thereof) in the critical area of talent procurement.

We need cbs and wrs badly and there isn't many realistic options on this list,Torrey Smith or Dmaryuis but odds of us getting them won't be good .Idzik dropped the ball,we could have won this year instead of waiting another year, what good does that do?Idzik could give two shits about Jets fans he has his own agenda he's a peice of shit.He could have signed a real corner or two and another wr and we would be a diffrent team.He ruined the season

I read this article when it came out yesterday. Rolling money over aside, idzik is a shitty talent evaluater, so good luck getting this guy to draft the right people especially round 3 and on. Dude made questionable selections when he went with Saunders and shaq. Everyone knew it instantly, at least the ones that weren't trying to front and act like they were good selections. I saw this coming. Now he is probably forcing Rex to keep playing winters. Idzik is a joke.

A guy like idzik should be in the back crunching numbers and presenting it to the GM not being the one who selects talent. That gm from the cfl, Jim Popp, whatever his name is with the slickback hair has an eye for talent. Check his resume out.

The jury is still out for me on Idzik but so far I'm not all that impressed.
As far as Rex goes , this team looked incompetent and undisciplined and that's on the HC.
It's not even about losing, it's how we lose.
Defense falls apart in key spots, offense looks lost.
    Penalties up the wazoo.

I'm sorry Rex but you are the weakest link, GOODBYE!

The same guy that took a 3 win team last year to an 8-8 season (5 win team with the point differential). You want that guy out right. You guys get stuck having the bottom of the barrel workers competing against a company of ivyleaguers and we'll deduce the reaults. we'll see how you feel when they put all the blame on you and your ass is the deemed the "weakest link."

What more does idzik have to prove to you. He is shit of a talent evaluater after the first 2 rounds. What him hoarding money and rolling it over justifies you not having a decision on him right now. Anyone can hoard money away not everyone can draft talent and in this case idzik is the weakest link

Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one, and you are certainly entitled to yours.

Rex, imo, is not a good HC.

What I got from this article and no one in NY will want to hear this, is that Idzik and the people who he takes after, will not spend the full cap money until they are truely a few players away from building a championship team. Meaning if they have a bad to mediocre team like this year, Idzik will not spend to the cap limit just to cover his own ass. Expect one, maybe two big splashes in the offseason, but for the love of God Idzik has to on the money for the majority of next year's draft picks.

And this is the horrible lack of foresight that leads to the notion that you can't rebuild in New York. This post is so bad that I thought you were trolling til I got three sentences in and saw you were still rambling on.

This article failed to mention the fact that the NFL is results business. Idzik got his one free year, his second year it was go time. Time to start winning games, instead he he has honestly fielded a roster that may actually be worse than last years (hard to believe right?). He refuses to hand out long term deals which I am fine with, but is he actually going to spend next offseason? or is he going to hand out one/short year contracts to players like Patterson, Vick, Goodson, CJ, Garrard that havent done anything. That money could have been spent to bring in an Emmanuel Sanders, or another position like CB had he done a more long term contract.

And like I said before, this is a results business, he compares him to Scheider, yet Schneider through 2 years had a playoff appearance and a playoff win. Idzik has nothing to show for. Schneiders 2010 playoff victory gave him "time", thats why when they didnt improve in 2011, it wasnt catastrophic considering they were in the divisional round a year before. (yes they were a 7-9 team which is worse than the Jets 8-8, but it is what it is unfortunately, playoffs > no playoffs)

I'm not a fan of taking 1 step forward and 20 steps back. The 2014 season has been an absolute embarrassment.

Idzik will get 1 more yr, Rex will be gone.

And the notion that all these draft picks are going to flourish, I hope he is right but it is more likely they wont flourish, thats just the facts. Seattles drafting was historically great, if you really look at it. Probably the best drafting we have seen a long time, and the result was probably the most dominate Super Bowl champion we have seen in a long time.
