What a great list of Aussies. I like the idea of the punting threads mixed in with the others. When someone slams the punter our "comments" about their opinions are then available for all the Board to see and for the regulars to have a laugh at.

Can't wait for the Ashes....that will really confuse the Yanks.:rofl:

Yes the ashes will be hard to explain....

Firstly the game and then why is the most prized trophy - simply a 3 inch old urn with some burnt bits in it......

    Go Aussies

    Go Benny

Would love to have the punts posted as well

    Come on tbj

Thanks frank & ESCRONDON. I joined last year just to keep up with Benny's antics. Regular Tuesday/Wednesday visit for me during the NFL season. Unfortunately, not having pay telly, I can't watch any games so, like many others, I rely on this board for updates.
This may surprise a few here, particularly those suggesting Graham be used on offence, but many AFL Geelong supporters would say he was a bit soft for a bloke his size. I'd have to admit that at times I've been one of them. No doubt he was one of the longest kicks in the game however. Few better.

Nice to have you guys on board. And the punting aspect of the game is actually huge when you have a guy like Ben. He can, and has, completely saved our asses several times.

    Not just Geelong fans ;)

I have really enjoyed watching and reading about Ben's progression in the NFL, but one thing that keeps getting exaggerated is Ben's profile back home.

Sure, Ben was a really good player, most sides would have him, but he wasn't the reported 'Superstar/Legend of the AFL Game' that gets bandied about in American editorials.

He wasn't hard enough at the ball and didn't take enough contested marks. He was never voted into the All Australian Side 22 (equivalent of pro-bowl or All Star). I doubt if he was ever in the top 50 players in the league.

This may seem harsh and perhaps it isn't the right forum, but if he is being advertised as the best AFL player Australia can produce to potential overseas markets then I think it needs to be corrected.

Agreed. Ben Graham was a good player but there are better players in the AFL.

In Ben's defence he played in a struggling team most of those years and had to carry them almost solo at times.
    Sound familiar?

Thought Graham was just as hard as any other AFL player: his problem was consistency. One week he'd be the best player in the land, the next he'd hardly touch the ball. In his defence, though, he played in a Geelong side with a less than stellar supporting cast. Geelong had their shot at glory in the Ablett years, and when those players from then retired, their list fell into mid-table mediocrity.
