The objective POV of this trade is...wait and see in 3 years. It looks like STL raped Washington, don't be quick in a rush to judgement. If RG3 turns out to be an elite NFL QB and the Ram's players drafted from this trade are at best average, Washington will have made the better deal. Too early to make a judgement
People are saying that STL robbed them in some ways they did, the Skins have a ton of cap space to build around. RG3 can run a make all the throws it looks like. In that division they need that type of QB. The Giants can get after people and so can Dallas so they have a need for a Vick/Newton type QB.
if the skins go out and get a stud wr like vincent jackson and some other pieces they could build around rg iii through free agency rather than the draft... definitely laying it all on rg iii.
It's not too early to judge. St. Louis robbed them. Moving up from 6 to 2 is not worth close to what Washington gave up. If Griffin turns out well, that doesn't change anything. The Redskins are taking a gamble with basically no upside. If Griffin becomes a top 5 QB, I'm not going to look back and say "wow, Washington was really smart. Great move!" What the Rams choose with the draft picks is separate from the deal. They made a fantastic trade. If they screw up the draft choices, that doesn't make it a poor trade. It just means they didn't draft well.
The Rams are going to have some serious young talent coming in this year and for years to come. Robert Griffin III will need at least one stud WR to keep afloat, and I don't think they really have that.
deadskins it is. That's why I'm not worried about the Raiders or Jags trading down this year... teams are afraid to give up big picks and sacrifice the future, even if they do want Mariota. Very few NFL teams today are willing to give away 1st rounders like candy, like the Redskins (or Knicks).
