You guys are idiots.... It was readily understood that Mangini evaluated the talent and Tannenbaum had very little to do with it. Tanny signed Calvin Pace and Alan Faneca to big contracts. That's about it. Gholston was the #6 pick and if you can find even ONE analyst/expert who didn't think there was a huge drop-off after the top 6 in that draft, you'd be the first. Every GM in the league would have made that pick. Mangini hand-picked Revis and David Thomas, Mangold and Ferguson. His brought in Kris Jenkins, reviving his career. And Kerry Rhodes would do well to recognize which coach turned him into a stand-out safety. I'm a Jets fan and I'm happy we're winning, and I think Rex Ryan's "swagger" works great because we're winning. But let's not make it out to be that he took an empty cupboard and turned it into a winner. He took Mangini's nucleus and is winning, although I admit he's pushing the right buttons. And how's he doing it? With a QB who isn't making mistakes and Kris Jenkins dominating the line of scrimmage. When Mangini's Jets collapsed, what happened? Favre was giving games away and Kris Jenkins had broken down. I hope the Browns get through this because Mangini's a good coach, but because he doesn't give the media anything, all of a sudden he's a "jerk"...why? because he doesn't like talking to the media? Because he fines millionaire cry-baby football players for not paying their $3 hotel mini-bar bill? Here's a flash...maybe we should be p**sed at them for thinking they're above average people who pay their bills! Take one deep breath for a second and think about that...he's trying to hold them accountable and the media villifies him. What's wrong with this picture? Or that a bunch of rookies have to get on a bus to go run a camp for kids? If the media didn't hold such a grudge against this guy, that stuff would never even become news. Maybe the Browns just don't have enough talent and it's gonna take him a while to build some depth and talent. If you don't have talent on your roster, no amount "coaching adjustments" are going to help.
^.. then get Mangina out of the big chair and put his fat, useless ass in personnel. As a HC, he's become the reaper. Even Herm isn't coaching anymore and Mangina would have been smart to sit a year or two and recollect as to what went wrong. Right now? He's Capt. Queeg and his crew is almost in mutiny..
Such a true statement. He was a good coach here in New York until he started that "Hybrid Defense" bullshit. Glad he's gone. He had talent here, but had no clue on how to use it. He went from Mangenius to Mangina in mentrual cycle.
