lets throw in s. hill and a. jeffrey; bryan thomas and ed reed; blair thomas and cortez kennedy..... but we have to remember it goes both ways. unfortunately for the jets it more often goes bad.
I remember him being the favorite for the falcons job and that was his preferred destination because of a franchise QB.
If we had Quinn and Prescott we would have won the Super Bowl already and the game hasn't even been played yet.
Seriously?? I personally think that is an absurd take. Quinn and Shanahan would've done a much, much better job here than Bowles and Gailey. Say what you want about having Matt Ryan, they have also gotten the most out of him. They've done a tremendous job and some smart team unlike the Jets is going to hire Shanahan in the next couple years. I don't see what's wrong with giving props to coaches elsewhere that are doing a great job. Give credit where its due. Matt Ryan was always pretty good but never THIS good. He was an average to above average QB and now he's having an all time great QB season. That's not a coincidence. Atlanta had just as many offensive TDs (58) as they had punts and turnovers combined (59)!!!!!!! That's truly fantastic football. We're talking all time great numbers there- - Atlanta didnt have that kind of output before they got there. -- (just for comparison sake, our Jets had 100 turnovers/punts to 26 offensive TDs. Atlanta 58vs. 59) Quinn & Shanahan would've done a great job here. Idk if we'd be talking about having a proverbial "franchise QB" but we'd certainly be in a much better spot at the position. Woody Johnson misjudged this one big time. Even if Quinn did prefer Atlanta, which we don't know for sure, what was the risk of waiting until Seattle's season was over and we could've found out for sure? We miss out on Todd Bowles?? lol.
Good post. At a minimum, the team would have been prepared to play each and every week, players wouldn't have skipped meetings or been late, and we would probably have seen adjustments in game and better game management. In addition, I can't help but believe that the D would have played much better. There wouldn't have been all the mental errors and players playing out of position. I also think we'd have seen a much different Petty, and quite possibly Hack as well. It's a stretch, but who knows, Shanahan may have even been able to help Geno.
I dont think Petty & possibly Geno Smith would even be on the roster had Quinn & Shanahan came here. One of the things that came out of the Bowles hiring was Macc/Woody/the media talking about how Bowles believed he could win without a top QB, as evidenced by the success Arizona had when Bowles was there without a QB... I don't think Quinn, and ....Shanahan especially, believe that you can win without a top QB! I believe they would've pushed Maccagnan to do anything possible to get a guy. I think they would've made a big move for Kirk Cousins who Shanahan worked with in Washington and was still a relatively unproven QB after the 2014 season. People would've called the Jets Freakin' crazy for throwing draft picks and a big contract at Cousins in the 2014 offseason but it just may have worked out. If not Cousins I believe those guys would've pushed for another big move for a QB. I don't think we'd be talking Petty/Hack right now and I sure as hell dont think they would've brought in Fitzpatrick
That would have been fine with me. Not to have had Fitz and had Cousins or someone else would have been great. Too bad we'll never know what might have happened. Then again, it might break our hearts. LOL
