I didn't watch the game but Pats King says the Chiefs FG kicker is just 5 of 9 from 40+ and the FG was a 41 yard jobbie. If that's true then 4th and 1 for a potential win might have been the percentage play over a 56% chance to tie. Then again it's Herm so it is hard to give him a lot of benefit of the doubt.
Less talent? Ty Law, Patrick Surtain, Jared Allen, Donnie Edwards, Larry Johnson are all pretty talented...I know Edwards, Surtain, and Law are all aging, but you can't name anyone on our team better than these guys.
You are in agreement with me then. I had a debate with nyjunc earlier this year. I stated that the Chiefs have better players than the Jets. nyjunc thought I was nuts.
HAH. You forgot the 'hello' part, but that's OK. That sentence gets funnier and funnier, I have to hand it to you.
Haha I don't know how someone can think that...especially early in the season. We have a solid ROOKIE corner, but we don't know if he was going to turn out that way early in the year. Ty Law and Patrick Surtain are two of the best corners in the league...I don't care how old they are. Revis is playing opposite Dyson/Barrett/Poteat -- all journeymen corners. The Chiefs also have two solid safeties with Page and Pollard. We only have one solid safety with Rhodes...the other guys: Abram/Coleman/Smith aren't cutting it. Tamba Hali and Jared Allen can both get after the QB -- I know they are playing a 4-3 Cover 2 defense in Kansas City, but I don't see how anyone can argue that we have better talent than KC. We might have better young players, but not better players. I forgot to mention Derrick Johnson and Tony Gonzalez earlier...Johnson is one of the best linebackers in the league and he's still fairly young. Gonzalez is getting older, but he's still a top 2 NFL tight end, only behind Antonio Gates.
Same thing happened in the Cle vs Steelers game and I was asking myself how can an NFL HC make such a dumb mistake like that. Then Herm does it this week....WOW.
I wouldn't be surprised if we have more wins then them when this season is all said and done. And I would not have questioned that. I didn't see what play he ran on 3rd down but as long as he threw the ball to try and get the first then I would have had no problem with him kicking the field goal there no matter what happens after that. C'mon junc thats a no brainer call.
I'm pretty sure they needed two yards and the play they ran was an incredibly predictable run left off tackle.
Yeah lets blatantly forget that the AFC West leader(s) are both under .500 while the AFC East leader is undefeated.
Absolutely w/o a doubt. We have been over this before, talent is not just sheer talent it's also relative to experience and success achieved so far. In a year or 2 we may look back and said KC had mroe talent to develop but fr this year the jets clearly have more talent ready to win which is whu most expecte dus to compete for a playoff spot and most expected KC to win 3-4 games. Law and Surtain are average at this point, Allen is a big time pass rusher, Edwards is average, Johnson is hurt and was average this year thanks to more OL changes and becoming complacent w/ his new contract. I think revis is as good as Surtain and Law right now and soon he will be better, we don't have a pass rusher like Allen, the way harris has played he's better than an old Edwards right now. Obviousy Jones is playing better than LJ since LJ isn't playing and by the way TJ is averaging 3.7 per rsh while LJ averaged 3.5. 3.7 is better than 3.5. I don't think you are nuts, there are alot of big name vets and they have some promising yong players but that team is in full rebuilding mode. They ahve had ro almost completely overhaul the OL in 2 years, they are developing a new QB, WRs, and now they have a 3rd string RB playing for them. Law and Surtain are NOT 2 of the best corners, 4 years ago they were they ar not now. they are still solid but average players right now. Don't be fooled by big names. Hali has just 5 sacks opposite Allen and playing in a better system for a pass rushing DE. W/ alot of the same talent(less talent than we have now) our D was top 5, we are in the wrong scheme but we have more talent. Johnson is good, TG is still good but obviously not as good as he once was. You also fail to mention STs where we have a huge edge. We have a better K, they probably have a better P but we have much better coverge and return teams. What does NE have to o w/ anything? C was also in contetnion for a WC spot- we were eligible to compete for a WC spot, right?
Most people did not expect the Chiefs to be 3-13 or 4-12. C'mon, nyjunc. Get real. The Jets clearly have more talent?!!? C'mon, nyjunc. Get real and watch a Chiefs game while you are at it. We get it. You like Herman Edwards and are doing everything possible to make it look like he is a better coach than Eric Mangini. The Jets had the edge at the QB position when comparing Pennington to Huard. It is too early to tell if Clemens is better than Croyle. The Chiefs have the edge at RB, TE, LG, RT, LDE, RDE, LOLB, ROLB, LCB, RCB, and FS.
Of course it was a real possibility. 0-16, 1-15, 2-14, 14-2, 15-1, and 16-0 were not real possibilities with this team. Anything between 3 and 13 wins was a real possibility. That doesn't mean 4-12 was the consensus. The consensus (and I saw a ton of predictions in preseason annuals and newspapers and websites) was 7 or 8 wins.
The Chiefs signed John Carney today. Re: 11 I guess that missed FG by Rayner is the reason why Edwards eschewed the FG in the 4th quarter and why Carney was signed today. I have not heard what happened to Rayner. Either he was cut or is injured.
Rayner isn't injured. Herm just doesn't trust him. Calling a timeout to challenge a play, then losing the challenge, then going for it instead of trying to tie the game, was absolutely retarded. I think teams should go for it more often on 4th down, but not from the 23 yard line, down by 3 with a little over 4 minutes left. congratulations, Herm. You lost AT HOME to a team that can't win on the road; a team that hadn't beaten an AFC West team SINCE 2004 (almost exactly 3 years). Astonishing. Before Sunday, the Raiders had TWO road wins in the last two seasons.
Can someone please explain to me why Junc has their retarded obsession with Herm and anyone that has something to say that isnt in favor of him? I dont understand it, you may be the last person on earth to realize that this man isnt meant to run a football team. He belongs in the announcers booth with all the other dopes, along with his stupid Hermisms.
