JD has them in full rebuilding mode, which everyone should have seen coming due to the length of his contract.

The 6 head coaches previous to Gase all had a winning records in their first season. That was one of the few things that gave me hope, and Gase broke the streak. It’s bad when you compare negatively to a guy who earned the nick name “Toilet”.

I had zero expectations going into this season and somehow they still managed to disappoint me yesterday.

Many emotions after yesterday. Here are some observations.

    1. Darnold played awful Settled a little but not a good game for him. Week 1 overreaction. Not jumping off the ship yet but a few more games like this we could have an issue. I expect him to look better next week. Does that mean a win or much better no but better. We'll see. Another note on Sam. He looked best in the hurry up. He calls the plays. Maybe do that more often. Takes it out of Gase's hands. He won't do it but a thought.

    2. This is the biggest one. Gase is an awful coach. As a fan I wasn't up for this game because the coach is awful He doesn't instill confidence. He looks defeated on the sideline and brings no life to his team. If as a fan I can see and feel this I can't imagine what the players feel. It's year two with him. I feel the same as last year. It's one game and the season is over.

    3. Quick fix if we could do this. Unfortunately Gase gets four games. If the team is 0-4 1-3 and still look flat etc. He needs to go. Put Boyer in as interim coach. He gets a 12 game tryout as HC. I think he'd bring life to the team. Already deals with offense and defensive players. Special teams always looks good and I think he has head coach potential.

    4. We'll see how it unfolds. I originally said the Jets would steal this game and clearly was wrong. I also said they'd beat the 9ers. I'll take that back. I said 7-9. At this point with Gase we'll be lucky to get to 4 or 5. Being a Jets fan is fun.

    5. As for Joe Douglas really year one for him. Not resigning Robby hurts. Not drafting another receiver in the 3rd or 4th round hurts. OLine looked better. Next year I'll truly grade him and with the money we're expected with I expect him to sign a significant player or two in the offseason. This year is about Gase. Next year it'll be on Douglas.
