Couldnt stay away. Went to the putting/chipping green this morning. Spent a good 45 minutes practicing. My putting has gotten so much better (see above). Chipped the ball really well today. Worked on just off the green to about 20 yards away. Flop shots, rolling. Everything but stopping a ball. Cant do that!
I hit this one last week on a 170 yard par 3.....probably the tightest tee shot I've ever had on a par 3....and yeah I made the birdie.
My best round started with a 38 through 9. I was like 23 or 24 and it was at the course in Paramus, NJ. You know when athletes say they were "in the zone"? I was in the zone that day, I swear everything I was hitting was on the mark. The strangers in my group were insisting I hit their drivers. At the time I think the R7 was new, and a guy had one and gave it to me. I hit one 320 (downhill) right off the fringe on a par 4, chip almost eagled (would have been my first and only eagle ever) and I tapped in for birdie. After the 9th, it all fell apart, because I started getting cocky. The 10th I hit one in the water and it was over. _________ Also, when I was learning to play, at Drumlins Golf Course @ Syracuse University. I hit almost the exact same shot Tiger hit at the masters before he did it. Downhill chip, long roll to the cup and in. Mine didn't hang on the edge of the cup tho.
Has anyone ever played at the pitch and putt in Flushing Meadows? I usually play at the one in Riis Park in Rockaway, but I wanna go to a new one. The Flushing Meadows one has insanely short holes though.
For public courses at a decent price, that's good for this time of year. If you're anywhere New England I can't imagine it being much different.
I'm in New England and the place I go is in pretty good shape. I'm going tomorrow so I'll see if I can get some pics.
My favorite hole Par 3 150 yards. Go short your in the water. Left or right and your in the sand. Go long and forget about it. A good 30 foot drop. Exit 6 on the Palisades. Love that place. Its behind a mental institution.
Same here. I played a few times back on LI and loved it,but had no accuracy on drives. I was told it was because i played too much baseball.
It is the grip. the natural tendency is to grip a club like a bat. Try to rotate your top hand(left hand) right and the other hand left
I shot 100 on that course on Saturday. Went 9, 8 on consecutive holes on the back and fucked my score. Played in 20-30 mph wind though....my buddy who's often in the 78-83 range shot 91 so I don't feel too bad about my 100.
I played a lot on Saturday. First was my first 18 hole course ever, shot a 98 which is terrible but not bad for me. I had a 45 on the front 9 which was my best 9 holes ever. Then I played another 9 later that day and shot a 50. My biggest problem was putting, which is odd because I'm usually not too bad at that.
Shot 44 with 16 putts today. Same score with 1 more putt. Hit 3/7 fairways. The first two holes i hit the fairway and well. Like longer than usually. The par 3 237 up hill killed me. I bogeyed that hole but my long ball went to shit after it. Wasnt till the 9th that i had another respectable drive. Love this game. Broadacres. Near Blue Hill. Less people. Like i can make a tee time this season. Blue Hill is a joke when it comes to getting on. They have 27 holes and some bullshit system of getting on.
Certainly not horrible....I can't remember the stat exactly but something like 75% of golfers can't legitimately break 100.
Right down the street from me. How crazy is it driving up to the course through the old institution yard? All the abandoned buildings with ivy all over them. Screams being haunted.
Abandon on one side, new and being used on the other. See some scary ass people driving there sometimes. Not ghosts, actually weirdos. Tomorrow we are playing Rotella (up in Pomona).
