La Conforma is a schmuck like the rest. That aside. I hope they are still in for McCloughan! Not for a GM though, I think he needs to take the place of Bradway. THAT would be a double whammy. McCloughan has a few too many issues over the past few years to just turn over the keys to the Ferrari, but I'd certainly take him over Bradway.
any news on McCloughlan? i think he's the most proven guy out there. wouldn't mind him as GM at all. if the role is VP of Football Ops, or VP Player Personnel, then i don't think we hire a GM at all. Just a cap guy to compliment that role, and see if McCloughlan can prove himself to be promoted to GM. I'd put Gamble as his right hand man, pairing them up like the old 49er days. and if McCloughlan were to leave due to 'personal reasons' again, we'd still have Gamble for FO consistency.
fack that would have been my choice at this point. i didn't see anything definitive that the deal was done with Washington, but i suppose they are just ironing out the contract.
I like this. He's spent his entire career with the Pats (save this year, but he only left after the Pats' draft) and contributed to the drafting of Julian Edelman, Devin McCourty, Rob Gronkowski, Nate Solder, Chandler Jones, etc. etc. Plus he's been evaluating college players all year for the Bucs, which means he's definitely been following which players the Jets will likely be interested in.
No matter who the Jets hire the first thing he has to do is to get rid of the rats currently on board some of whom have been there for years and are unwilling to change. In addition to being disloyal (and leaking stuff to the press) they did a shitty job. I think that Idzik tried to change the culture of the team but Woody wouldn't let him finish the job. Let this guy bring in his own people including new scouts.
Good, I'm a fan of this guy. He's had a nice decade-long run in Houston and they've plucked some nice players out of most of their drafts.
Maccagnan/Bowles either since they have ties and we just interviewed Bowles yesterday now bringing Maccagnan back.
Jets bringing back Maccagnan for second interview January 8th, 2015 9:04 am The Jets are bringing back Mike Maccagnan, Houston’s director of college scouting, for a second interview for the team’s general manager position (Cimini, Jan. 8). The team previously met with him earlier this week (TJB, Jan. 6). They confirmed he is one of the men interviewed for the position on Wednesday (TJB, Jan. 7).
If we did bring in Maccagnan and Kubiak I would love to see them steal Bill Kollar away from the Texans in some capacity, either his current DL coach position or some kind of assistant DC position. He has 26 years of NFL coaching experience and has done an incredible job with the Texans 3-4 Dline with only Watt. Imagine what he could do with our front 7
Karl Dunbar is better. We need to keep him. We have a better D Line than the Texans, they just have that monster who is better than any of our players.
Manish Mehta Overwhelming feeling from front office executives I've spoken to about Mike Maccagnan: He's not ready to be a NFL GM. I really can't believe why Mehta can't shut up his mouth. He is judgind every candidate.
Manish I hate to say is a Dick and should not be a beat writer for the Jets. This shit is hard enough without that piece of shit giving his opinion.
I wouldn't call him "Jets beat writer", because he is always writing articles which are against everything what the Jets does. We all know that it was a hard and long season, but Manish turned to dark side.
