What do you guys thinking about bring in John Morton as sr assistant / passing game coordinators to replace Turner : https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/47531414/lions-fire-oc-john-morton-one-season Morton was with the Jets before, and I thought got short end of the stick with Todd Bowls. He also did pretty well as an assistant in Detroit earlier, where he worked with Tanner and Glenn and then Denver with Mooge. It looks like Campbell didn't like him calling plays, but Detroit actually scored fewer points with Campbell calling plays than Morton. If there is anyone decent Glenn can attract here, Morton may be it.
Seeing as we're stuck with an unpolished turd in Glenn, I'd listen to or try just about anything at this point. I mean, shit, they've already thrown the bottom of the barrel in the trash, how much lower can they go than the worst in the league?
This regime Coach A.G. is the face of it need to humble themselves. Stop doing this our way or the highway thing. Since he arrived the moves this regime have made have been anti-what the fans want. Some of us wanted Rodgers back right away he was gone. Many of us wanted the Jets to draft a rookie QB (Shedeur) of course they didn't etc. They have to throw the fans a bone give us something to get excited about to start this offseason. They scapegoated Wilks but this offense was equally as horrific. Go hire Mike Mcdaniels to run the Jets offense I would be greatly excited about that. All offseason long I would be imagining what he's going to do with our guys about the possibility of finally watching a FUN high scoring Jets offense. I don't know if there's a guy out there the Jets can hire to run their defense that would impact this team the way Mike McDaniels possibly could on the offensive side of the ball. Get rid of Tanner. He gets fired which team is going to hire him to run their offense? Please. Throw us a bone!!!
Would love to have that but I can’t imagine McDaniel coming here as OC…he’ll hold out for one of the HC roles I’d guess…remember, he did go to the playoffs his first two years, and at times that offense was humming. Tua injuries hurt a lot but he’s not the worst HC in the league by a long shot. Shit, I’d take him over Glenn straight up right now.
Stephen A Smith inserted himself as a journalist into Dante Moore’s life. That is a complete and totally unprofessional move. Now during the college playoffs and especially if he declares he will constantly hear questions about this idiot’s comments. Being honest, Smith should have to issue a public apology to Moore and the Jets and be suspended at the least.
To the Jets credit at least they’re trying to put a campaign of support behind Aaron Glenn. At least they’re not hiding while the bullets have been flying at Glenn. I don’t like keeping Glenn, I’ve been on record with that, but I at least recognize the club is trying to do the right thing if they are keeping him. You can’t just hang the guy out to dry, they’re going to have to keep this up.
That's why they didn't live stream the last press conference, only one all year they didn't live stream.
Dan Patrick: "Nobody's saying to Fernando Mendoza, 'Hey, don't go to the Raiders!' The Raiders are just as much of a mess as the Jets are!" https://x.com/dpshow/status/2009324229414801529 And that was my point. Smith could have shitted on the owner and the coach. But to tell Dante not to go there, and Raiders are just fine, is horseshit. And definitely it is out there now, in Dante's ear too. Smith is total piece of shit for this.
Can you link me to what he said ? SAS is the reason I don't watch anything other than live sports on ESPN
Honestly this doesn’t rile me up at all Couldn’t care less what he says, but the sad part is I don’t disagree with his comments based on what I’ve heard they are (haven’t actually listened to the podcast) I don’t mind Woody taking heat AT ALL And honestly, the way I fell about it is that fucking hey, if you don’t want people talking such shit about you, then do better! Don’t give them this ammunition. Woody needs to look in the mirror before pointing fingers at a media guy Sorry, but this is a WOODY problem not a STEPHEN A SMITH problem in my view… I wouldn’t mind if a bunch of other guys jump on this too if that is what we need to slap some sense into Woody…
But can we slap some sense without trying to influence a top QB prospect, which Woody wouldn't even understand implications of losing anyway?
I was always a Morton fan. I remember during his stay, the Jets had no problems throwing deep. Offense was not the problem. If nothing else, it was interesting to watch.
So, I do think it is a conversation whether he should declare or not. Why should he not: - He might not be ready in general to make a jump to the NFL - Jets are not a good team with pretty bad coaching. - He can probably make 5-10 mil with NIL, the numbers have been all over the place Why should he: - NFL contract is 50 mil guaranteed over 4 years for #2 overall - He could go #1 overall with even more guaranteed plus prestige of #1 overall pick - If he succeeds in the NFL and gets second contract, the salary could be 50 mil a year. Staying in College would take a prime year of this contract away - He lost his OC Will Stein to HC position in another school - Next year he could get injured/lose draft stock value - The team he will be drafted to next year even if he good and goes high, is probably going to be a bottom feeder anyway Now, what Smith is saying, even assuming he ready to make a jump, to still stay because it is the Jets specifically that he should avoid. Is our situation really much worse than the Raiders though, which he does not mention at all? Yes, we are a laughingstock, but so are they. At least we have an OL to protect him. So overall just seems like it is a bad advice based on the pros and cons above. Yes, in 2026 he will not win a lot of games, but he will be protected, and there is likely going to be another coach in 2027. Is that so much worse than getting drafted to a bottom feeder in 2027 and lose a prime earning year and so much guaranteed money with injury risk? I don't think so. I think if he is ready, he should declare. And yes of course going to the Jets or even the Raiders too is not great, but bad teams usually have top picks every year. And I certainly do NOT think the Jets should be singled out specifically over the Raiders or another in this example as the reason the prospect should not come out.
Ignorant is not understanding that providing commentary and opinion is the job that some people are paid to do. Pointing out those things that are not done well is a huge part of the job. Why you would call it "sabotage" is ridiculous. What do you want? More ridiculous thoughts like "Positive Vibes Only"?
So, if Smith didn't say the Jets were a mess of a team, cautioning players to stay away, those players wouldn't find out about that some other way?
Why do you care what that gasbag says? Just change the channel. First, he doesn't have the power to "make the Jets look bad". That power is reserved to the Jets, and they have become exceptionally good at it. And I'm sure anybody with a brain who knows Dante Moore is saying the same thing to him. He has a chance to start his career with 20 mil in his pocket, even NIL can't make half of that up
