You're not disagreeing with my point, your're bringing in a new point and that is based on what position impacts the game more, and relating it to the talent level of our team at those positions. Nevertheless, I disagree with you. Just like Rex Ryan says, the fastest way to lose a game is at the Quarterback and Cornerback positions. It's like the flag football leagues I play in.....the friends we let play that are not great athletes, we mask them by letting them play offense and just run a pattern as a diversion. On defense, we use only top athletes, cause one bad athlete can allow the opponent an easy TD....just like 1 bad corner can get picked on and blow games.
Fine, whatever, we'll just have to disagree. I think Rex Ryan is an idiot. There are more important positions on D than CB. Even the best CB can only maintain coverage for 3-4 seconds, and they all get beaten. That's when having a strong pass rush and an excellent FS can save your bacon. IMO the sooner Rex is fired, the better.
If Barr landed on the Jets, I'd be ecstatic. A great pass rusher can mask a weak secondary, and that is something we definitely lack. Let's be honest, Coples isn't going to become Demarcus Ware anytime soon. I'll keep having to disagree with you tho....I'm a Rex fan.
We're in definite agreement about Barr, the pass rush masking a weak secondary and Coples. It's cool that you're a Rex fan. I used to be too. I really wanted to like him and see him succeed. It's been his own words and actions that have turned me against him, and I now despise him. I know I'm in the minority and can handle it. I just think the Jets will never even win the division, much less the AFC Championship or a SB as long as he is the HC.
No one here really knows how much Rex has been involved in the drafts. I did get the impression he was all in on the Sanchez pick, which was a disaster. But that was Rex's first year. As far as running the O has been concerned, Rex has had his issues, but I think those are behind us since Marty came to the team. There's not the same exposure there that was most evidently on display when for example Sparano was the OC. Imo the low point was in 12, but some hefty portion of that involved Tebow. Tebow was mostly a Woody move, so I don't hold Rex primarily responsible for that. I do think he was responsible for Sparano, and him and Sparano probably helped mismanage the Sanchezsituation there together. But like I said it looks like Rex will let Marty run most of the O, so that downside has been minimized. As for the draft, Idzik is primiarly responsible.
This theory fails to consider a run on WRs. A deep WR class may not look so deep at pick 49 if 12-14 WRs go in the 1st and early 2nd.
