Nice pics, I wanted to bring a camera and take pictures but it was too damn cold so I have some crappy cell phone pics.
In terms of being a fan, I don't really care about any real amenities. I'm there for the game. Usually, the best times I have at a game I never leave my seat except to maybe take a piss. I'm excited because I get cupholders in case I do want to buy a beer, and that the Giants Stadium name is coming down. There are a couple aesthetic things that are going to be nice, and with all this money going to the stadium, it damn well better be fun to go to. Still, PSL's suck, and while yeah, the stadium is better, it screws season ticket holders and potential season ticket holders over. As a fan, just change the word "Giants" to anything else, and I'd be fine with it.
I am happy we won't have red and blue seats and the building won't be called Giants Stadium BUT the Stadium itslef was a great one and it was better than the new one will be. I have been in the new one, it's great if you love luxury boxes but the old Stadium was a perfect football Stadium for the FANS.
the giants went about it in a very different manner than the jets did. ther was no choice of moving around like we had. no seniority issues either. you were assigned a seat in the new stadium based on where you sat in the old stadium. if you didnt like it, you could decline the offer and then it was first come first serve if you wanted a different section. i actually have a feeling that even though they say its all sold, it really isnt do to the fact that they didnt actually "sell" the spots. also, the process for them isnt over yet as seat numbers and rows havent been officially assigned yet for the giants
That last game sucked for me since it was my grandfathers funeral. I went to the funeral came home and went to the game but skipped the tailgate. I'm 29 so I'm in the younger bracket but I'm sad to see the stadium go down and the great sightlines it had. On the other hand I'm glad when we have Dolphins fans in the stadium they can't point to the Giants Stadium sign and rub it in our faces.
I'm a fan born and raised on Long Island that now lives in NC I will never be a season ticket holder so my perspective is different or course. But as a Jets fan I feel this new stadium is a good and bad thing. The good is that I don't want the Jets to play in Giants stadium and that has finally changed. On the other hand as a New Yorker I wished for a Jets stadium of their own in NY and at least while they played at Giants stadium that was a possibility but now they are stuck with the Giants for the rest of my natural life in NJ, (no offense to the fine people of NJ). Even Jerry Jones overblown spectacle looks the same on tv when the game is actually being played so my seat remains the same. BTW, I am calling the stadium Jets Stadium regardess of who pays for the naming rights. I've earned that with all the years watching my Jets play in Giants stadium, now let the Giants play in Jets stadium.
Tear that piece of crap down. A lot of painful memories in that place. At least it ended on a high note.
They asked for 4 preferences. If you wanted to stay where you were (approximate) then you got priority and kept your seats. Once they had a handle on how many people were staying put in the expensive lower bowl they looked for people who had a preference to move down from the UD and Mezz. How good your seats were moving down was based on seniority. The people who got the shaft were ones who wanted to move up. Since most of the UD people kept their seats the Giants told a lot of people who wanted to move up that they couldn't. You either kept your expensive downstairs seats or didn't get seats at all. But since the Giants didn't play any PR stunts with the no PSL upper deck everybody knew they were going to be paying SOMETHING so there was no mad rush for upstairs. And everybody has their section, row and seat assignments. The final payment is due March 1.
Thanks. The one I really wanted to get is the one walking in between the stadiums, since that was a temporary and kind of historic situation. It came out very dark, I managed to lighten it in Photoshop a bit, the cell phone ones didn't come out at all in the dark.
As a music fan, this is sad. I saw so many great shows there. One great memory: Guns and Roses - Deep Purple - Aerosmith, maybe 1988? Axl hits the stage in white leather! That performance is documented in the Paradise City video....
Went to my first Grateful Dead show there. Fell asleep actually. Guy in a dress passes me something and it was over johnny.
Could not have said it any better 227. When the Jets played, it was our home, not once did I think about the Giants. It was a great place to watch a game but now the new place will have Jets Championship history while the Giants play mediocore ball for the next 5 years. Its our turn baby.
Yeah, with all the unsold PSL seats, the Dolphin fans can take over our place. You will see 10,000 dolphin fans sitting in the lower deck.
Saw the dead with Willie Nelson in 1978, good show, must other dead shows sucked there. The Who was good.
