Thanks Champ. I am DVR'ing it and will watch when I am back home tonight. But good info for @The Waterboy and other out of town fans.
The closest train station to me is literally a 3 minute drive from my house. Went to get a cuppa Joe at the convenience store up the street and figured I'd go the train st. parking lot and take a look at the kiosk. Yep, as I expected, nothing matches up as to 1:00/4:00 game time(s) arrivals/departures (meaning I'd get there too early or get there too late, and the same thing in reverse). The alternative is to drive 45 minutes out my way and take the train from Suffern. It's the same train line but they also generate trains directly from Suffern so there's one every hour. The problem isn't getting there, it's getting home. If there's a long wait to get to Secaucus Junction and I miss my connection, I could be totally screwed or have to wait forever. I'll have to look into the logistics of it more. It just pisses me off that I could get great seats for a song and wind up paying more for the idiot parking pass. Mad face HERE. I mean, here. Since you've apparently done this before, why is it so jammed up on the way back? If they're running trains in every 10 minutes, why can't they at least run them every 20 on the way back? What's the deal with that?
Which county are you in? You can get the NJ Transit app to get the times and purchase tickets on your phone. Second, worst case scenario you could take the train from Secaucus to Penn station and your options are greater. Though, I've noticed the connecting trains usually wait at Secaucus because they know there is game traffic en route.
I don't live in NJ. I'm in Orange County, NY (Port Jervis/Bergen Line). It's technically Metronorth from PJ to Suffern, and then actually NJ Transit from Suffern on down (even though all the trains say NJ Transit on the side). It's still the same exact train line to get me there and back regardless, so the frequency of trains out of Penn St. has no bearing. The train right near my home goes to Secaucus Junction, where you transfer to get to Penn St. or the last stop if you stay on is Hoboken. In this case, I would get out in Secaucus Junction and catch a train to The New Dump. Trying to make it a bit clearer, some of the trains that generate out of PJ are the same, other trains are generated directly out of Suffern, NY, and they're generated much more frequently. That being said, if anything happens north of Suffern, NJ Transit doesn't care if you live or die. I commuted to NYC for years, but used to take the train to Hoboken and then the Path train to mid-town. I did it for 9 years and it took about 20 years off of my life. Four hours a day total commute - if you were lucky. There was a ridiculously small handful of trains that left Hoboken and went north of Suffern until about 10 years ago, but it still sucks frequency-wise. So here's my NJ Transit Flood Story, because I just know @FJF is counting on me! This was back in '92 and it had been raining torrentially. As we're pulling into Suffern, the conductor makes an announcement: "Suffern, last stop. Tracks are impassable." What? They threw us all out because the station was getting flooded and so were the tracks at the next stop. Well, guess what? Most of the streets were COMPLETELY flooded. We had to make a human chain and swim across the road to the car dealership parking lot. No shuttle bus. Nothing. They just left us there completely stranded. Left the house at 6:30 a.m., got home at 2:30 a.m. I can laugh about it now. Kind of. My friend still goes, "It was like fckn, 'Nam, man." So that's the short version of my NJ Transit Flood Story, and always remember, all of my stories are true. ; ) I still wanna know why there's such a long wait out of the game to get to Secaucus Junction. Is it just because the platform is jammed with people or they don't run as often as on the way in? Please clarify. If I get a better handle on it, it might be doable for me, but doable at my own risk of sleeping on a bench in Secaucus Junction.
First off, you are my MVP candidate for next year's board awards. That said, problem after game is this. A lot of people rush to the train and you end up waiting for the train that takes you to Secaucus. While in Secaucus you wait for the train that takes you home. On Sunday's I sometimes end up waiting an hour to catch the train to home. So say game ended at 4:30 pm and I waited until the end. Realistically I won't be on the train to Secaucus until 5:00 pm. I arrive to Secaucus at 5:20'ish. And wait for the train to Madison which is at 6:11. I take that train and I am home at 7 pm. Whole thing is two and a half hour for me or 2 hours if I am lucky.
U do not need the Sunday tix for this most cable companies carry the NFL Network as part of there basic package I know my does
May you be infested with the fleas of one thousand goats I'll be scouting for the Jets 2022 1st round pick at tonight's game
