@Superhippy you should please post more often sir. Every single one of your posts are well thought out, and well educated messages. I always make sure to stop, and read when I see that you posted, yet it is depressing seeing you with under 100 posts. I admit even myself I post 5-6 agree/disagree posts before posting something of unique value, and input. Thanks for signing up, and FTR...

I think imho, just for fun right now, unofficially, I'd like to see..

    1. Decker
    2. Nelson
    3. Kerley
    4. Salas
    5. Ford

I'm as 50/50 as can be about Hill, but to me, if by now in his 3rd season, he can't even surely lock up a ROSTER SPOT, then he probably will never be anything more than a 400 yards a year type WR. I am starting to get the feeling his career in the NFL is just about over, after we cut him, and he has 1 quick fling.

21 snaps, 4 targets, 1 catch and 1 big drop.

I'm sorry, I just don't believe Hill is an NFL WR.

WR's get a few chances to make a big impact on a game. When exactly has Hill turned those chances into enough to make a difference? Twice in his career, both times against a bad beat up Bills secondary.

Kerley is better than Nelson (TEs will be the main slot guys). Ford (who I thought before the pre-season would be on the roster) will be gone. Saunders (unless they IR or PUP him) will be on the roster. I think the WRs will be Decker, Kerley, Nelson, Salas, Saunders & Hill (although Gates might beat out Hill). If they drop Hill, I think they'd be better going with an extra LB (george or troy davis) than keeping Gates around, but they could keep Hakim around also who is an excellent special teamer vs Gates who doesn't play special team.

I don't get why there is still an argument for Hill. If he hasn't figured it out already, he won't be figuring it out at all. The fact that a target as big and fast as he is never gets looked at, says everything I need to know. He's not an NFL WR and he's not going to be on this team much longer. Receivers make impacts. Guys with Hill's size and speed make impacts. Hill has never made an impact.

Ford was awful. I don't think he makes the team.

I think it completely depends on whether Saunders is healthy or not. Ford can still be a decent return man at the very least.

So were Mo, Demario Davis, Antonio Allen (stolen by Tanny in round 7), Powell and Kerley.

So Tanny was uncanny? Well, so were Schlegel, Ducasse and Gholston, not to mention "the cupboard's bare" drafts that killed the depth ;)
(then again,it should be noted that Bradway's last year as GM (2005) had the Jets picking a KICKER with their FIRST ROUND PICK. Can you imagine??!!)

Bilial Powell supposedly was a Rex pick (4th rd., Louisville).

I know what you mean. But I never liked the idea of Tanny having a say in evaluating players from a strickly "football ability" standpoint.

He was a crappy cappy guy to me, not the guy whose package would prompt an Eddie DeBartolo to hire him. Hell, even cap-wise, Tanny's supposed strength, Carmen Policy could run rings around him when it came to manipulating the rules to his advantage. But he's moved on and so have we.

Off to prepare a chimichurri sauce for an Argentine gaucho-style rib eye … later gator….

    lastly:

"And another thing Wilson: you never turn to look for the ball !!
    …… EVER!!!"

He got a first down with his 1 catch. And the 1 "big drop" was a contested play on an underthrown ball.

Should he have caught it? Yes it hit his hands... Should be getting crucified for not catching it? No, I don't think so.

Yeah but we have no idea who's picks were who's. Folks blame Tanny for all the crap moves but give Rex and BWay credit for the good moves.

Nobody knows, just pointing out the sky is falling duplicity of some posters.

Btw, am making Paella Valenciana today in my paella pan on the grill.

Although I'm not a Tanny fan I support your argument. During his tenure we have hit payday on a number of good drafts, along with some stinkers. I don't think is fair to criticize him on the strength of the picks made, but rather on his whole body of work. I feel strongly he was a failure for our team from a total strategy perspective, mortgaging the future time and time again by disregarding the value of the draft, constantly trading picks and moving up for projects, signing overblown long term contracts, and much like his mentor the mighty Purcell, forcing a break the bank for a win now mentality at the expense of a horrible future with no youth and zero growth. We are still recovering from that.

Tannenbaum did a good job imo, you can hate all you want but he put together a pretty damn good roster in 2010 that had the ability to win the whole thing.

    Congrats on a great post
Now there is a well though out analysis with facts and figures. We can all agree to disagree about Hill, but the usual input Hill has done nothing blah blah has zero value and it's wrong. It's he a big disappointment to our expectations, hell yes...but people that think guys like Gates and Ford have distinguished themselves enough to have a spot over Hill are clueless, special team or not.
Having said that, either Geno gets enough confidence on Hill to start targeting him more, and Hill begins to earn that confidence by making the tough catches, , or Hill will be watching the game from afar....maybe even waay afar.

Typically Kerley would be playing in the slot role, not the #2 role. That's all I meant. Obviously he is the better player.

Also, now with Ford out, I'd be fine with Hill staying...and my bad about Saunders, totally forgot when making the post.

Allen is one my favorites on the team but he has played the position a total of maybe 3 weeks now and runs a 4.6. When he gave up that deep pass to Green he wasn't even in the picture. If Dalton doesn't lead him out of bounds that's a TD. What good is it being good at contesting for the ball when you are not in position to do so. I'd much rather have a player be consistently be in position to make a play then not. Said CB at the very least would be in position to strip the ball away on the way down and/or make the tackle rather than allowing a big scoring play.
