Why is it that so many posters on this site have a huge problem with a thread about Vernon Gholston's piss poor performance today, while nobody cares at all about the endless "Sanchez cost us the game!", "Thomas Jones is finished!", "FIRE SCHOTTENHEIMER!!!!!" threads?

This is a Jets message board. What are you expecting to read if not opinions about how players played?

I'll reiterate my point from earlier in the thread: the Jets defense was excellent today. Gholston was not the only reason that the Jets lost. But he didn't play well, and he doesn't deserve a pass just because his teammates picked him up.

Maybe the reason foks are more prone to call out this piece of shit is that his lack of talent is VERY F'ing OBVIOUS. It's not that we're out to get the guy, but when you watch a play fall apart and see who contributes, and then re-watch the game again courtesty of a replay, it's hard to not see who the culprits are.

Go ahead, try and sell us on the fact that this lack of skill, fire, pursuit, guts, etc is due to the fact that he missed OTA's last season because of Ohio State's tri-mester schedule....

The guy blows chunks, but it's nice to see that some of the lemmings are still looking to follow behind him.

    Retards huh? Pot, meet Kettle...

Yes anybody who takes one fucking game where the entire offense sucked dick and then tries to shift focus to a 2d yr defensive linemen who wasn't even close to making the most egregious defensive errors committed during a game that was well played defensively is a FUCKING RETARD.

Hey Captain Obvious, we're taking this game, the previous 3 and all of last season.

It's a "Work in Progress," get it? There's something to be said about playing consistently shitty for the first 20 games of your NFL career.

OK now throw the good ole catch phrases at us. "Learning curve," "Rookie slump," and then be sure to point out how completely hideous similar guys in his position were playing at this point.

Let me ask you this, who do you consider made more costly and consistent errors for the defense on the field tonight? You do realize that Drew Coleman played better in his postion, right?

The fucking retards are the ones who went out and bought a Gholston jersey when the guy was drafted. Only to have the guy change his number in the 2nd year and find out that he still sucks. Having buyers remorse?

Go kick the cat. I can see that this topic has you boiling over....

Go back and read everything I've posted about Gholston--I've been consistent in saying that some Jets fans are ridiculous about criticizing him, and I've been happy to praise him when he's played well. But when he plays poorly I'm going to call him out, just like I'd call out Lito Sheppard for a dumb pass interference or Chansi Stuckey for a bad drop.

I don't enjoy seeing any Jet struggle and I don't hate any Jets player. I just want them to win games.

Another Gholston Nutsack rider and another illiterate because from what I've read I could have SWORN, I acknowledged that Sanchez sucked the place up this year.

But obviously you never realized that R.I.F. ... Our school system is failing us, when people have no clue how to recognize when a simply structured sentence has been placed before their eyes and their only retort is to hone in on one part of the sentence and use it to make their less than valid point.

Our Defense did HORRIBLY today, because we could not stop the run. 153 yards on the ground is NOT doing their thing. and PLENTY of those yards were run RIGHT AT GHOLSTON. He had a WHOPPING 1 tackles over the past 2 games. Gholston is a JOKE

Yes Sanchez could suck a fart out of someone's ass today, he was OBVIOUSLY responsible for 14 of the 24 points but again, and I'll write it in BIG letters so you can understand.

WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE SAINTS OFF THE FIELD ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND MADE A GAME OUT OF THIS, EVEN AFTER BEING DOWN 17 - 3, HOWEVER, WE COULD NOT BECAUSE SEVERAL OF THE PLAYS WERE RUN AT OUR #6 DRAFT PICK.

Our Pass defense held Brees, but our RUN defense was porous and a lot of that was because of GHOLSTON, this was a COLLECTIVE screw up.

Guys, if Gholston sucks and his play is effecting the overall results of our D then it should be noted. That's all that people are saying here. He is in way over his head out there and every one of these games count. This is not the time to experiment and see if Gholston is improving or not. That's what the preseason is for. He doesn't make plays out there, tackles, pressures or sacks, and that's the truest indicator of a pass rushing linebacker. Forget the money and contract BS and if we're obliged to play him because of it, he is a hole in our defense when he's on the field. That hole starts bleeding and it carries over and infects the rest of the unit. I can't watch the guy out there anymore, he's in way over his head.

This is what the rest of us have been missing. Your well-thought out response has shown us the light.

Its sad when someone has to question another person over trying to get hyped and giddy over a player their team drafted. Seriously why can't we just try and root for the guy as opposed to call him out nonstop and say he's a bust every down and every play.

Its his 2nd new defensive system in 2 years and he was a raw prospect coming into the NFL. You cannot expect him to suddenly "Get it" and all of a sudden begin to kill. Its silly and laughable. Gholston is just under the microscope because the entire Jets D has been overperforming this year so far and he happens to have been one of the weaker starters of this 11 man group.

Today was tough, the front 3 did a bad job attacking Brees and the runners so in result the LBs for the most part were caught in situations where the RBs had a huge hole to break and were going to get their big yds regardless.

    Wow,

Ok, let me simplify it for you:

This defense is predicated on EVERYONE hitting their assignments, playing their gaps.

If ONE person is not where they are supposed to be and hitting their assignments as designed it WILL affect the entire defense.

Also, to minimize the need for people to make anymore excuses about Mr Gholston. He was playing with his hands on the ground like he played in college.

Many peoples excuse was he has played out of position, that excuse can no longer be used.

Again, plenty of the plays where The Saints were 3rd down, They just punched it right up the gut and either Gholston took himself out of the play or he was taken of the play, mostly the former and not the latter.

Is Gholston SOLELY responsible for this loss? No! I never said that. My question was do the people who still contend he is improving, still believe so I don't believe ANYWHERE I blamed him entirely for this loss. I didn't blame any ONE person for the loss. I acknowledged several aspects of our loss, mostly Sanchez looking like a rookie, the fact that we could not run or stop the run.

But again I guess reading ISN'T fundamental for some people.

This loss rides RIGHT on Sanchez shoulders, but that topic was already covered by someone else.

But Gholston DEFINITELY had a role in giving up 153 yards on the ground which also is a result of our loss, we were in this game and quite a few 3rd down conversions were on running plays not passing plays, Brees was pedestrian today, our run defense was retarded. But I acknowledged that as well.

But I can't see how all of Ghoston's little groupies can't see that. Oh well, I guess they got their panties in a bunch because I wrote a thread about their little dreamboat.

Obviously b*tch you can't read, because once again I acknowledged SEVERAL aspects of why we loss.

My question was Corky, whether or not other Gholston sack riders as yourself, still contend this waste of skin is still improving, but I guess reading is not your strong suit.

The Jersey comment is me pissing in the face of those who say we can't be critical of a particular player.

They are ALL under the microscope and good 'ole Gladys is no different. Do yourself a favor and re-watch the game. There were SEVERAL plays where your guy was in a position to do something, to make any kind of an impact, and he did anything but.

Don't give me this crap about the learning curve, raw talent, potential etc. Folks tried to use the same argument about other "raw" players who came out early in the first with great expectations and guess what? They all showed something by the end of their first season and by the 2nd season they were actually producing, contributing.

    Calm the fuck down. Jesus.

Our defense played fine. NO is THE best offensive team in the league and we shut them down most of the game. I was disappointed in Gholston too.. he made a couple embarrassing mistakes but he wasn't terrible. There were a couple plays where I don't think he even saw Thomas run past him.. hopefully he doesn't make a habit of that. And I did read what you said so don't ask.
