He's definitely a big boy, probably one reason why he shows a little fatigue. As a side, let's forget about McFadden. There are so many underclassman running backs to mark down for 2009; the Jets are in position to get good value with a defensive pass rusher/run stuffer, including Gholston in round 1 if we trade down or actually win some games.
Kind of hard to just forget about a guy who has the ability to be a LT type back. Those kind of guys are not available every other year
For one he is a better prospect then bush and also if you look before that then you go all the way back to LT in 2000. As much as I want McFadden im not saying people are dumb for not wanting mcfadden, there just dumb for saying we shouldnt even consider him
Gholston's stock has never been higher. In a game of this magnitude and playing against the best OLineman (though not every down, since OSU shifts him a lot) in the upcoming draft, Gholston dominated. He's definitely top 15 if he declares, most likely top 10. I'm thinking he'll declare, especially if he has a good BCS Bowl game on national TV. With him and Groves in the upcoming draft, we could definitely land one of them. Maybe Gholston's rise will overshadow Groves and then we could get McFadden and Groves! Or we trade down and pick up the freak that is Vernon Gholston.
Thats the greatest thing said all thread. If someone would pay out their a## for McFadden and we could get multiple 1's and a 2 I would do it tomorrow
If they don't want McFadden, look for a Patriots attempt to trade down as well. With that said, I'd love to have multiple first rounders this year. We need them. Gholston did for his stock today what Tim Biakabutka (sp?) did for Michigan in 1995.
I think another player that needs to be given a serious look is Michigan OLB Shawn Crable. The dude has like 24.5 tackles for a loss and about 7 or 8 sacks this season, I think he would be a great fit in the 3-4 at OLB. He also plays with a mean streak and loves to hit, which sometimes results in some stupid penalties.
He's another great physical specimen who's a great player and pass rusher, but his ability to shed blocks is below average. I'd love him working on the outside, but if we can get Groves or Gholston instead, I'd prefer that...
imagine if we had two 1's, could we pick Groves and Gholston, could they play opposite to each other?
I go to Ohio State so obviously I know a good deal about our football team and let me tell you that Gholston is supposedly like around 4-6% body fat at 260 lbs, can run in the 4.5's and maxes his bench press at 450+. All of this information comes from my buddy who is a manager with the football team so its pretty legit. If you have never seen pictures of this dude in his pregame cutoffs you need to take a peek.
