Can't see Ghost being successful as a 2 gap DE either. This kid just doesn't have the heart or drive for this level. This is a last ditch attempt to get something out of him....one that will fail I think.

I really think Gholston just wanted the big contract. He got it, now he's done.

    Yeah the money hurts...

But I mean, at this point...what's the difference between paying the guy to do nothing AND eat a roster spot AND take the cap hit (maybe the cap comes back after this season...) and cutting him and paying him?

Unless the whole team uses Gholston as their bitch boy, making him get Subway sandwhiches at 4:30 in the morning n stuff.

Gholston has to be the only 3rd year veteran carrying balls and equipment on and off the practice field.

Rex: "The guy just doesn't get it..."
Pettine: "We have to simplify it for him."
Rex: "He you go Vernon, here's your protein drink. Now go get the nice man with the ball."

Yeah maybe Ghost is a moron. Making him a DE heh

Hey Ghost just go do roids, and run into Oline men so the real players can get the QB.

I've been saying this is what the Jets should do with him for a year now. It's about time they're finally getting to it. Personally, I think this is going to do wonders for him. It won't make people happy because he won't have statistical evidence to compare to his salary, but I honestly feel this move will pay off. (Not the least of which will be keeping Ellis rested late into the season.)

This is a friggin mistake... He's not the pass rusher this team sorely needed so now we throw him into another position he's never played? The guy is a liability, he has no heart, no motor, and he never caught up to the speed of the NFL. Cut his ass and make roster space for a real football player.

I hope he has a great first few games so we can trade his ass to the NFC East.

The Jets really have no leverage to trade him for more than a 7th round pick, based on his performance. I can't imagine this is to try to showcase him. Why would a team even give a 7th rounder when they could just sign him after the Jets cut him?

And what if he turns out to be a very good defensive end? I'm not saying he will, but what if?

People don't even bother to attempt to stop and think rationally for a second before flying off the handle.
