The only reason U have any hope AT ALL of this guy contributing is Bryan Thomas. He had bust written all over him, but really came on his 5th year and is a solid, if unspectacular, contributer.

I believe Gholston is a bust of epic proportions, but hold out hope he can somehow turn it around a little.

Funny, I'm in the same boat...

The rational one's among us who actually follow the draft seem to be realistic about this...

We didn't go Ga Ga over this guy like the majority of people here did... BU.. once he was picked we UNDERSTAND that a) Changing positions like that can take over a whole season and b) he's playing behind 2 guys that are doing a real good job.....

Some fans are just so off the wall unrealistic about what they expect from players and teams...

Glad I was on board with the team from the start and didn't cry wolf all season like many also did here....

    IT TAKES TIME.

Hey I wouldn't have draft Brick either... But, I don't bitch cuz it's a logical pick....

I bitch when a moron Spends TWO picks and jumps up for a player like DROB in a DT heavy draft..

Now THAT, my friends is stupidity and something to complain about.

Oddly, if Tanny did that... I'd trust that the pick is HOF material. I really thought I'd feel the opposite due to the debacle in 2003.

Anyone notice how Gholston's body looks a lot different then his senior year at OSU? Or how he looks a lot slower? When I watched him in college he looked cut up and now he looks different. I remember even when he was interviewed after the draft on SNY that he looked chunky. I'm not saying he's out of shape since he isn't but I think the offseason program will make a big difference towards the Jets having a dominating pass rusher.

I think you make a good point here and there is a player who comes to mind who really improved in an offseason. Cotchery seemed to flash good hands early but he seemed slow and his development after some time in the program was amazing. Im hoping for some of the same for vernon. Brick was a player who I was very down on for my perception of his value compared to where he was drafted. This guy has been really impressive and while im no expert IM shocked at his improvement in play this yr. He is soooo much better against the bullrushers and is really blocking better in the run game as well. Vernon can have the same success because he has the raw talent and by all accounts has the right attitude. He is only 22 and if he develops well we will have one hell of a d next yr.
