He got a sack last season against the Eagles. At least its the regular season is here. It's now or never, even if Vernon doesn't agree.
Was it a good hit? the game wasn't on here, but they did show the p*ts / giants on 2 different channels.
Oh yeah, pretty crushing hit actually. Came in from LE and beat the RT around the edge and hit the QB full force. It was good to see him end the preseason on such a good note. Hopefully that carries over for him.
It was a legit NFL sack. I couldn't believe it. The girl I was with had no clue why I was getting so happy over that play BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN.
With his new role, he won't be racking up sacks. But I'd like him to have 2 on the year as a 3-4 DE. Just two. Even if they are coverage sacks. Just get to a NFL QB.
I realize he's playing 34DE, by sack or two I meant he's getting the occasional push and has improved his shedding technique which is what we are looking for this year from him.
Especially runs right at him. I wanna see him close that gap and get to the RB. I've seen it this preseason. Now I wanna see him do it for real.
Gholston will probably get a chance to get a sack here and there at least initially because he's definitely going to see some time back at OLB with Pace out at the beginning of the season. He played tonight at OLB, though he was moved around a bit (which Ryan's scheme's call for anyway).
And on the night Gholston makes a sack... Kroul gets two ... still, I guess it's a good sign for our DE depth.
Kroul is my favorite right now. He looks the part, great motor, and is dying to make this team. He plays like a Jet and is going to take the same path as Devito. He may never be a top talent but if he stays healthy he'll have a 8+ year career in this league. Wait till his third year in the league, that's when Devito broke out.
I don't think he's ever going to be a quality pass rusher like we expected when we drafted him but he can still be a solid player and he's shown alot this preseason. Remember that we were 3-1 w/ him starting last year while Pace was suspended.
Good way to end the PS. It looks to me like he works hard and has improved and that DE is the place he should be playing. I agree on Kroul. I am rooting for him.
I agree with this. He'll likely follow the path of Bryan Thomas to some degree. Thomas was drafted to be a pass rusher too and he ended up being a run stopper first pressure guy second... Thomas was also terrible in his first few years but he has progressed every season since he's been in the NFL. It wouldn't be surprising to see the same from Gholston. The big difference between Gholston and Thomas is that Gholston seems to have a much shorter leash due to his higher salary / draft position and the fact that the Jets are expecting more out of their team now than ever.
