you say chad has a record of failure in the playoffs---there was no other jet who has won more playoff games
Any QB who is good enough to keep getting there is going to have some kind of record of failure in the playoffs unless his team wins the Super Bowl every year, which is impossible. It's not like he's never won, he's won twice, once on the road.
The San Diego game?!?!? The San Diego game?!?!? Hell, San Diego handed that game to the Jets. Yeah, Chad played in the game, but to say he led the team to victory is a pretty empty statement.
He hit Moss with a TD bomb and threw another short TD to Becht, all with a torn rotator cuff. So much for the notion that he can't win in the playoffs, lest we bring up the 41-0 trouncing of the Colts.
my comment about no other jet qb has won more playoff games than chad means that nobody won THREE GAMES---only chad and joe won two games
Yes, two post-season wins. Namath, Todd and Chad all have two--tied for most in franchise history. Only Chad won playoff games in two different post-seasons. Fun fact for the day.
If it's factually relevant to the discussion, sure. I know you don't like inconvenient facts when bashing Chad, but he did go on the road, throw a TD bomb and lead us to a playoff win. Blows the hell out of a bunch of TGG popular myths, but it did happen.
IMHO totally senseless discussion about a player CP that NO longer even plays for us & never will again nor never/ever won us a championship like Brady did 3 times. So he completed a TD pass in somewhereville so what did it win us a championship? NO. Is it important in any way now to the NYJs? NO. Will he ever be important to the NYJs again? NO. So why bother? Face it he was dumped last year & here is the ONLY important fact he is no longer a NYJ & never again will ever be a NYJ
A simple and quick read of the thread, champ, will show you that this began by us discussing Miami's prospects for the coming year. Miami who is in our division and therefore very much relevant to the current state of the Jets, and QB'd by Chad Pennington. So while he's gone from the Jets, he's still in the division, won it as a matter of fact, so he's still going to come up. If people want to discuss him, I guess they will.
OK I looked - Dallas took a step back from 10-6 to 6-10.. Pats and Jets both took steps back in year 3..... Still... I talk to Miami fans who are braced for a step back - That was a magical ride for them last year and the schedule is night and day.. I just think the matchups and "When" they played teams worked out nicely...
In today's league it's pretty common for teams to bounce up and down from year to year, but with Parcells there I'm not counting on it. Keep in mind, year three with the Pats they might have gone backwards but year four they were in the Super Bowl. In year three with the Jets Vinny blew out his achilles and we still went 8-8 with Mirer and Lucas playing. If Chad gos down in the first half of Week 1, then Miami probably will go backwards. Also, once you get to 11-5 there's not much room to go up a lot further.
