The only thing that concerns me is that Carroll in Seattle wanted a fucked up Leon instead of a kid he coached, McKnight...

We traded up ahead of him to get McKnight. Leon was a consolation.

RB was a need for them, they could have taken him in the 3rd.

Dude... I'm pretty sure you don't tell the team your trading with who your are taking, you trade for the pick... keep what your doing with said pick in house...

The Seahawks may have wanted him, too. We ended up picking before them in Round 4.

They probably had him graded as a 4th round pick, and then we snatched him away from them.

    Joe McKnight
    Height: 5-11⅜ | Weight: 198 | 40-Time: 4.47

    Official Bio

    Strengths:
Amazing athlete --- Explosive with terrific speed and a burst --- Great quickness and agility --- Excellent vision --- Patient runner --- Very elusive and a terror in space --- Can start and stop / change directions on a dime --- Able to get outside and turn the corner --- Soft hands and runs superb routes --- Offers value as a return man --- Still has upside.

    Weaknesses:
Underachiever --- Doesn't have the size you look for --- Not very strong or powerful --- Is not much of a threat between the tackles --- Will dance around too much --- Some issues with ball security --- A sub par blocker --- Probably not an every-down player --- Durability's a concern.

    Notes:
Just a one-year starter for the Trojans --- Garnered Honorable Mention Pac-10 notice in 2008 and 2009 --- Brother, Jonathan, is committed to play football at Arizona in 2010 --- Sister, Johanna, was on the basketball and track teams at Richmond --- Averaged 7.9 yards on 32 punt returns and 25.0 yards on 2 kick returns during his career --- A very highly-touted, sought after recruit and was even one of the key figures in a book (Meat Market by Bruce Feldman) on the subject --- Also a state champion track star in high school --- Was hampered by an assortment of maladies to his knee, toes, fingers, elbow, ankle, thigh and illness the past few years --- Held out of the 2009 Emerald Bowl because he was being investigated for a possible NCAA rules (extra benefits) violation --- Hailed as "The Next Reggie Bush" before ever playing a down but never really lived up to the hype --- A very talented prospect with a lot of potential who could turn out to be a better pro than college player --- Versatile playmaker whose best fit at the next level will likely come as a complimentary weapon and return specialist.

leon washington contributed big time to the team in the past. i was a big fan. hard to see him go.
i like mcknight, he'll be able to repalce him. and kyle wilson should be able to replace leon's return game and then some.

i know faneca sucked but he still contributed a big part to the best rushing offense in the league. ducasse should be able to replace him since we have one of the best offensive line coaches

sad to see some jets players go who contributed big time for us in the past

Kyle Wilson isn't going to have anything to do with Leon's return duties. McKnight is taking KRs while Wilson will be handling punts. Leon was never a good punt returner.

Should change his name to Joe McJet...

Seriously speaking, I think this kid is going to have a huge impact right away.

Perhaps the reason that Carrol traded for Leon was because we took McKnight. That's pretty ironic.

#1 prospect coming out of high school. This is our consolation for not getting Reggie Bush in 2006

Our consolation for not getting Reggie Bush in 2006 was getting Leon Washington.

Thanks TommyGreen, that info and the videos helped me come to terms with loosing LW -

Maybe this guy COULD be him, could be more...could be less...but then again, Leon himself only really had the could be him, or could be less at this point. Who's Joe Knights agent?

It's going to help Sanchez having a fellow Trojan as a check down target.

    Here's a news flash:

That's what good teams do, they shed older veterans whose play has declined before their completely useless and draft replacements who have high ceilings.
