I said that, numerous times. Was it important for you to make that point yourself that you edited it out of my quote?
"Dude"... My life is very rich and rewarding. You have no idea. If that's the bst you got against me? You lost this argument big time. All of you Mangini supporters who don't care about his lousy press conferences, and do not care about the Belichek-derived freeze-out of the media miss the main point: The media is there to get information for the fans. When Mangini, Belichek or Parcells crap all over reporters and pull their tricks? They're basically telling all of us Jets fans to go to Hades. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I watch any entertainment or sports, i prefer it when I am NOT treated like a complete idiot. I like it better when the management is honest with me about how they are spending my dollars. But then again, maybe you guys are into the "M" in "S&M" or something. Finally, if all you care about is winning football games? Then Mangini should have been fired already after taking over a playoff team and turning them into a bunch of 4-12 LOSERS. Say what you will about Herm Edwards, but... He was FIRED after 4-12.
No, it's not. This is a very competitive business. Do you see Steve Jobs coming out and telling the media specifically what Apple will be doing in coming years? Do you see Bill Gates doing it for Microsoft? Why would they tell us anything? What right do we have to know? What advantage does it give them? What advantage does it give us? What other NFL team even does this? You're being serious? Can you name one sport, business, government, or ANYTHING that tells the truth to the media unless forced to? Or maybe we realize we have nothing to do with what the front office has done or will do? Or that we don't have a single right to ask? Or that it would be completely detrimental to a modern sports franchise to actually be dumb enough to show everyone their hand? ROTFL. This one isn't even worth it...he took over a playoff team? Really now?
Sad, sad, sad... Guy, I don't know where you live or what you do for a living, but I LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Yes, I am a proud citizen of the USA. And here, in my beloved homeland, we are not thralls to corporate shills, and we do not bow down to any monarch. And so, yes, I expect honesty from the people who speak to the media... Don't you remember Watergate? Or are you too young to remember? And yes, Mangini took over a team that had been in the playoffs before injuries took over. I don't remember Mangini nor Tannenbaum telling us after they got into the playoofs, "Hey, this is not a playoff team, 10-6 was an illusion, please be patient while we make adjustments." No, sorry guy. Everyone thought the talent level was at such a competitive level that the Jets might compete for the playoffs again.Yes, mangini inherited a playoff team, like it or not. And he turned them into 4-12 LOSERS. Are you going to hold Mangini and Tannenbaum to a lower level of expectations than Edwards and Bradway? Is 8-8 going to be a triumph in 2008 because Mangini is such a boy-genius and Tannenbaum is such a salary cap genius?
I always thought I've had my share of idiotic posting, but well. This one tops it all. If Mangini did inherit a playoff team, (mind you, he did not.) how come NOBODY saw that coming? Herm inherited a playoff caliber team, and ran the team to the ground. Mangini? Give me a break. He didn't even have the Hall of Fame runningback playing for him. Are you that stupid? Have you completely forgotten Kevan Barlow debacle? Gee. I thought TGG didn't have morons on board... how wrong I was. Not this season. They had better put up some result this year - deep into Playoffs, to say the very least.
Usually I'm okay with this, but I'm really having trouble figuring out whether Bosko's being sarcastic, or if he's completely insane.
I am serious... Hey, guys, could you agree with me that Herm Edwards inherited a playoff team? Hopefully the answer is yes. And I'd have to be insane to think that the 4-12 team that Mangini took over was a playoff team. I am not insane. And I am not being sarcastic. On the other hand, there used to be a lot of talent on this team. As bad as Herm was with clock management during the playoffs and all, at least the team made the damn playoffs. The way things are going? I do not think we will see the playoffs again for a very long time. It seems to be a HUGE "Emperor Wears No Clothes" situation to avoid admitting that Mangini took over a team that had some defensive talent and a good shot at the playoffs, but Mangini's insistence on turning players in a 3-4 defense into a 4-3 system (or whatever you want to call it, at this point I am totally lost) has turned the Jets into losers. I know is that Jonathan Vilma was supposed to be a big talent, but he somehow "underperformed" under Mangini. Bryan Thomas, under Mangini's tutelage, was suddenly the second coming of LT, so Tangini rewarded him with a huge contract, and no one has seen him since. Brad Smith was supposed to become some kind of superstar in the Mangini system, but he disappeared last year. Pennington was a promising QB at one time, but injuries have sadly ended his ability to be a competitve NFL QB. So now we have Thomas Jones at RB--does anyone out there think he can be another Curtis Martin? Yes, Leon Washington is a good change-of-pace RB... But do you really think that the Jet are so much improved this year that we can beat out the Patriots for the division title? Is our runnign gme really going to run over the rest of the AFC? Is our defense so rock-solid thatwe can shut down the high-powered offenses of the AFC? Yet you Mangini groupies sit there and consistently talk about what a better coach he is than Edwards. Sorry! I just don't see it. If I am wrong, you can jazz me all you want in 2008. I promise to be here if you will. In the meantime, Mangini, Tannenbaum and his cohorts (led by Woody Johnson, worst team owner ever--just do not get me started on the West Side Stadium project), need to prove themselves this season. Good luck. Hope you enjoy 6-10 or 8-8 in 2008.
PS I didn't start this thread by mispelling the head coach's name, so I do wonder who on this board is insane and who is just plain ignorant.
Judging from how naive that last sentence sounds and this whole useless paragraph in general, I'm guessing middle America? To even say something like "I expect honesty from the people who speak to the media" and mean it is...wow. Especially in a business where the info isn't even vital to your survival. Too young. Thanks for pointing out the connection though... 1. A team with no LT, C, RT, 1 DT, no secondary talent beyond Rhodes, a QB with a twice torn shoulder and monster contract, one proven starting WR, 0 healthy starting RBs, and only one LBer worth a damn was a playoff team? Funny, I don't remember anyone calling us a playoff team before it actually happened in '06. 2. Taking over a team that once made the playoffs means what exactly? Half those guys Mangini inherited from Herm were well past their prime, not worth the money they might get/did get, and hadn't done enough to get us to the promised land under Herm. 3. Who is "everyone?" Personally, I thought they were an 8-8 team *tops* last year. Even with the improvements Revis, Harris, Jones, and Coleman, our big 4 from last offseason, we just weren't that good. We could still be run on in '06. Our running game was disgusting. Our passing game was mediocre. Then it can't be ignored that we beat the '06 versions of the Titans, Packers, Raiders, Lions, Vikings, Dolphins, and Texans. Huh? No, I just realize that Edwards and Bradway were basically handed a Parcells built team in their prime. Herm walked into a situation with JAbe, Ellis, Martin, Ellis, Pennington, Vinny, Coles, Chrebet, Glenn, Jones, Lewis, and a top O-line. Of those guys, only Lewis and Vinny were over 30. How is this even close to the situation Mangini walked into? And would 8-8 be a triumph in '08? Who knows...I have no idea how the rest of the league looks like right now...and that doesn't even offer context. What if we go 8-8, but overall team play gets better? What would you think of 8-8?
All right, so you turned a thread about Mangini/Tannenbaum's press conferences into an indictment of them as a management team. Yep. Definitely insane.
8-8: Not so Great I live in New York City, but obviously I live in a country that has lost its balls, according to you. I mean, that reply was just pathetic. You really want to live in a country where lies and bullcrap are normal? Well, then, I have just the team for you: The New England Patriots. BTW? I think 8-8 is the number Tangini need to keep their jobs. Any worse and the NYC media will be calling for their heads... Well, under normal circumstances the media would be calling for heads to roll, but the sad fact is that the Jets have become so irrelevant lately, maybe Tangini will be able to skate under the radar... But really, think about it--if you owned the NY Jets and spent all that money on the free agents and high draft picks--would you be happy with 8-8 and out of the playoffs? I don't care what Woody Johnson says, but if I was him I would be looking at other HC resum?s if this team misses the playoffs... Tick... Tick... Tick...
Herm ran the team to the ground, and it took him 5 years. In his 5 years, he won exactly TWO playoff games. By the end of his era, the team was depleted with talents. If anything, tell me what happened to Curtis Martin, and we'll talk. When Herm took over the team, yeah. By the end of Herm's reign, no. They had aging line, no RB, Cotchery wasn't even used, and had NOBODY in the middle of the DL. CB spot wasn't settled and now you want to call THAT roster "Filled with Talent"? I am really convinced that you are a complete moron. Your devoid of clue appalls me. Nobody would have been successful with 4-3 at that point. Who would clog up the middle? Dslob? Ferguson defected out of New York for a long time, and Jets lacked a legitimate space eater for some time. I don't think turning into 3-4 was a mistake - it would have been equally hard fight to play 4-3 anyway. You have John I-have-sprained-my-vagina-again Abraham coming from the edge, and that's about all the defensive talent you can claim you have outside of Vilma. He was so fucking effective stopping the run, eh? He did have good game here and there generating good pressure on QBs, which disguised the complete lack of talent at the secondary. In other words, that D was in complete shambles. Get a clue. Ok. Vilma didn't quite fit - sad, but that's the end of the story. BT wasn't in his natural position, so it's prudent call to watch him perform in his natural position this season, and judge if he's a bust or not. Pennington? His shredded shoulder is a product of Herm/Bradway, not Mangini. Herm/Bradway have always neglected the OL, trying to get by with the likes of Tom Nutten, who should have retired by the time he signed with the Jets. It is your vaunted HC Herm that ran the franchise to the ground, not the other way. He had 1000+ yard with the shamble they call OL last season. Who knows how much he's going to get this season? On top of that, Herm always got his behind handed to him by Pats. ALWAYS. Moreover, it seems that you are suffering from serious level of amnesia. The Playoff-calibre Jets of Herm's reign always started off the season with massive defensive lapses, giving up like 45 points per game. What makes you think this team, devoid of talent, will do any better than that playoff-calibre team? Are you fucking nuts? My dose of advice for you: Go root for KC Herms. Watch them swim at the bottom of the league again.
Wait, we were a palyoff team in herm's last year? News to me. I guess your too busy sucking herms cock to realize that we did not have a good team in '05. Sorry about that. Why don't you take a min to swallow and figure out what was actually going on that year....and you think I'm the one who is confused? Silly. You need news from Mangini? Why. If his team sucks? Can him. If they are good. Fine. I am not a blind follower of him or any one. I feel he is building the team the right way, but would not fret about it a few years later if he is gone like the herm boys that still hang around here. I'm sorry springer is not enough for you. Perhaps Oprah will give you enough info that you can forget that Mangini cares little about your feelings and more about controlling his team. Sad, I know. The Media is there to try and gain a fan base and thus suport the money they make. Teams do not choose to talk to these batards, but have to due to NFL rules. Simply put, they are forced to try and entertain you dumb ass. They do not want to.
Tch, tch... Such hostility! I am not doing anything with Herm's wiener and I am not confused. No, the Jets were not a "palyoff" team in Herm's last year. And you know what? If every Jets fan was as stupid and drunk as you are, I would not give two bowel movements about what they tell the media or their fans. But there are a few of us who do care what the media says to the fans. I am just sorry for you that you are too stupid to get it.
You are a Herm fan that still has not gotten over him being fired. 5 years and no championships is plenty of time. THese guys get the same chance. And how dare you be negative about this team with what they have done. Get over it. Herm is gone, Herm had his chance. Hey, how's the Chiefs doing. I know, he went to a team with no talent and now he's putting it all together. Yeap, Herm's never responsible
Bosko misses the days of the Herm on his soapbox press conferences and hates this new "non-giving away the insider info" press conference that Mangini does. He has spun it into the "lies" Mangini is telling us in the press conferences are a disservice to fans and will be a factor of not making the playoffs. This could very well be the worst thread ever made, the Ainge for QB one comes in a close second. The offseason makes people tired and weak and ultimately crazy. We are discussing press conferences......that tells me that there is no sustenance outside of the NYJ for some. Go outside and find something to do, for me to read that Mangini is lying through press conferences and this is wrong and the fans deserve more makes me realize why sports business does what it does. This topic is not one of a profound nature and will never find conclusion. Most fans are sheep, so its easy to shear them time and time again. This thread is a good example.
Mangini actually gave some intresting press confrences last year. I remember after KC was starting after a loss the one guy was like "do you think you will give Tui a chance?" and he was ummmm wellll we will see in practice and then they went back to Ray Lucas and he was like Was that reporter serious? TUI ARE U KIDDING ME???
Oh man, I was almost going to start taking you seriously until I read this post. Hahaha, Herm was FIRED after 4-12? Herm had a new job lined up before the Jets were 0-1. And it's funny to see that you're a Herm-barnacle considering you don't like to be treated like you're stupid... because Herm talked in his press conferences like they were directed at a pre-school audience. I like your posts, though, your routine is solid.
