Football is such an easy game, isn't it? All it takes is an elite QB, even an old one, and you win, right? The other 44 guys are just along for the ride and don't matter. The QB makes the OL look good, makes RBs find holes and gain yards, makes receivers from bums into stars , and turn average defenses into great ones. It is all the QB. That is it. I don't know why I bother watching anything else. And what fools the Jets have been throwing money at players like Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, Harris, etc. All they needed to do was draft the right Qb or pay someone else's star QB a bushel of money and we would be rolling in Lombardi trophies.
Sandiego did the same with Ryan Leaf and look where it got them, Oakland did the same thing with JaMarcus Russell and look where it got em, Bengals did the same with Akili Smith and look where it got em, Tenesee did the same with Heath Shuler and look where it got em, Houston did the same with Andre Ware and look where it got em. For every success story theres 5 failures, If you ask any 49er fan if they would go thru 8 years or misery to finally see 1 decent year of Alex Smith I guarantee you the answer is no. All you have to do is watch Mark Sanchez out there for 17 weeks to see that he will never be anything special in this league. To even Mention Marino and Steve young in the same Sentence as Sanchez is a joke. Why didn't we keep Gholtson around couple more years and he would of turned into the best defensive player in the league.
And I wonder how many people remember that Steve Young sucked ass in Tampa Bay and was traded to San Francisco because they thought he was finished. Plus, they wanted to make room for their new franchise savior - Vinny Testaverde. I'll really need Mark Sanchez to suck just a bit more than he has already before I'm prepared to turn him into Steve Young Part Deux.
You said it would be retarded for him to play for a few years, then sit behind someone else. I was just giving an example of a guy who did something similar and turned out pretty good. I can't think of many examples of guys who have taken that path, but would it really be such a horrible thing for Sanchez to learn from Peyton Manning? It's obviously about more than just the QB, but you have seen how terrible the Colts are this year without Manning - right?
It's obviously about more than just the QB, but you have seen how terrible the Colts are this year without Manning - right?[/QUOTE] Yeah and their coach is a moron and Manning made him look like a genious to.
You make a good point. A team can be crippled by putting its future in the hands of a young, high-draftee quarterback who sucks the life out of the franchise. Ours has two conference championship appearances on his resume. Just a minor distinction from ALL of the others you list.
You think we made those because of him? You think he played good the past 2 years if so your out of your mind. You think Manning wouldn't have won a superbowl with those teams? Never once did he eclipse 200 yards in those 4 games(196 186 180 and 100 yards passing stats are undeniable), but we got there and won them cause of him right? Only reason why we won those games was because Shotty was smart enough to keep the ball out of his hands something he didn't do this year and that is the reason for the failure and why Shotty should be fired yesterday.
Another distinction is by all accounts Mark Sanchez is the first one in the building last one out and actually has the WILLINGNESS to learn.
Considering he has 9 TDs/3 INTs in the playoffs I say he was a pretty big part of it. Last time I checked he marched us down the field to kick the GW field goal at Indy last year.
That's not the point, my friend. The point is that we didn't NOT make them when he was playing. One would think that if he sucked irreparably, we'd not have been in that position.
196 186 and 180 yards are stellar passing performances right, how about the 100 yards vs Cinci? Great Job Marky you looked like Tom Brady in them. Can he say he was not a liability sure, but to say he won those games is the most outrageous thing ever. Were lucky we even got to the playoffs with him being so bad during the regular season. Tebow won a game this year while throwing for 43 yards this year guess hes great to.
I already told you fly down here well grab a beer and you can teach me grammar and why the great Sanchez is so great. Trying to get friendly with you bud.
Do yourself a favor and review Tom Brady's 2001 stats. He won the Superbowl that year. Averaged LESS THAN 200 yards a game that season. The Patriots threw for like nuthin-hundred yards in the Superbowl where he was voted MVP. He didn't even throw 20 complete passes. People remember one great drive, though. That's all it takes. You keep bringing up examples to prove whatever point you're trying to make, and you're inevitably proving the opposite. I'll keep playing for as long as you keep being amusing, but you'd do well to think twice before you drop the next one.
shows how mature you are, you need to get out of the house more often. Hard to average 10+ posts a day over a 7 year span. Guess all the Beautiful looking woman in Sweden are not fans of pimply teenagers.
