Exactly. It has actually become comical at this point. I have never heard of a QB ever missing the Saturday meeting (without a valid excuse like "My wife was in labor") and then starting on Sunday. And BTW, since you did such a bang up job in the first half in SD, you get the nod against Denver.

Well, it would seem one of two things must be true, and of one I tend to be skeptical of conspiracy theories. But still.

Either Ryan is in effect following orders to play Smith no matter what, with such order coming from Idzik, with Woody's acquiescence. Or he is a coddling buffoon.

As he says the 4 game losing streak is the least of his problems... it should be his biggest problem !!

Geno better just come out and tell the truth, someone out there knows where he was and it probably isn't pretty.

    This whole thing is sketchy.

I about choked on my food this morning hearing Geno say the only thing they are thinking about is football. The only thing he s thinking about is cashing that check he stole.

Gino is being doubted on the air. When asked what movie he went to see he didn't answer. We saw his attitude and the sulking on draft day when he dropped to Round 2. When I saw that I was praying the Jets wouldn't select him. I tend to believe his story. Or was he acting like a brat again after being booed at Met Life the week before.

Lol, Michael Kay was just killing Geno on his story, thinks it's total bullshit.

No one has mentioned who the other 5 players were, if it really was 6 guys, why let Geno hang out in the wind by himself, someone should have come forward to bail him out.

Thinks Geno is not saying what movie it was because then he'd have to hurry up and watch it so that if reporters ask him details he's not going to be able to give them.

Is hoping a TMZ type Goes to the closest movie theaters to the hotel and does some digging and then goes out and finds the real story.

And Jim Rome-who I can't stand- was just killing Geno on his explanation saying he knows kids that are better at figuring out time zone differences.

They have no choice but to stay the course. I really thought Vick could help them... but it seems clear this is just a coast to a paycheck year for him. He didn't even seem to know the plays when he came in.

John Grudden had the best comment I've herd yet. He was talking about Tom B and Peyton M never missing a meeting in their long careers. He said " My QB don't miss meetings, he runs the meetings" Rex is a big softie with no spine. Sometimes I think these players need a dictator for a coach or they just take advantage of you.
If you are performing it's a different story.

We don't need a dictator, we need a coach that isn't wearing HC pampers to run the show who has had some success in the past. Yeah, there have been teams in the past 15 years who have won with first time HCs, but for the most part those first timers were with teams that have been what we would call perennial contenders. Teams like the Steelers, Packers, Ravens.

In the past 15 years, 6 teams have won 9 Super Bowls with coaches on their second stint as HC.

    • Pete Carroll
    • Jon Gruden
    • Bill Belichick (3)
    • Tony Dungy
    • Tom Coughlin (2)
    • Dick Vermeil

This team needs an experienced HC, we have not been able to do it with a rookie, and we don't have 15 years like the Steelers did with Cowher, this isn't coal country, it's the real tristate area. Preferably an offensive coach, since we haven't had one since Kotite (lol).

That's a very interesting point. I hear you completely on an offensive minded HC but I have wanted a new first timer. That's a very interesting track record there though that shouldn't be ignored. I have previously hated the idea of "re-treads" though.. they scare me. Remember when Johnson was close to hiring Mike Tice prior to Rex? Yikes. that's the kind of re-tread that I don't want.

But what you posted is hard to ignore and there is something to be said about a guy having HCing experience. I think the biggest thing you get from a guy like that is
    A) experience managing both sides of the ball. That's something severely lacking from Rex as we all know and don't need to get into
    B) experience with time management, in game decisionmaking, team (players and coaches - egos) management, media management, etc. All of that stuff turns out to be a big deal and doesn't often come on a resume.

Thinking this through - a guy I would really be interested in that kinda fits this criteria (previous HCing experience / offensive mind) is Hue Jackson.

He's doing a great job as Cincy's O-Coordinator this year and has always done good work on the offensive side of the ball. His team's always typically run the ball really well which would fit the make up of this team.
His experience as a HC with the Raiders is short but looking back he actually did a good job there. He had that team at 7-4. They finished 8-8 but we are talking about the Raiders, such a dumpster fire organization there. He definitely deserved more time there and got a raw deal getting fired after one year. I think he would do well here.

Rex said it was only a 10 minute meeting... if this is true.. do you think it's just another case of the media trying to destroy the jets again? As if we haven't done enough self destructing on the field
