I was more impressed with Geno's play in the Tampa game and in the Buffalo game than the Atlanta game. Not to say he did not play well against Atlanta. He made a number of beautiful throws against Atlanta. But he was not asked to do near as much against Atlanta than he was against Tampa and Buffalo. What impressed me about those games he was asked to carry the team by himself and essentially left out on an island. Especially against Tampa where he was under severe pressure all game long. I thought Tampa was his most poised game against pressure. He was so calm and cool under pressure that game. His performance against Tampa was truly remarkable.

Against Atlanta he was not asked to throw the ball down the field like he was against Buffalo. He was imply asked to run a more conservative short passing offense which he did flawlessly. He may have made more mistakes in the other games but he was asked to do so much more.

The most telling difference in how was he used was the 3rd and 17 playcall against Atlanta. In weeks 1-4 he would likely have been asked to throw it 20 yards and try to get the 1st. This is a low probability high risk play. Against Atlanta he was told to throw a quick screen and punt. I liked the Atlanta strategy much better. It is much better to protect your rookie QB, not expose to as much to hits and potential turnovers, let him develop and not overwhelm him to much.

    Let this sink in.

"Geno Smith had the second-best road passer rating in NFL history on Monday night. After five games, he’s also fourth-best among rookies in history (post-1960) in yards per pass attempt. And his 80.3 overall rating is the fifth-best rookie passer rating through Week 5 among active quarterbacks."

With this kid's gifted passing ability and mobility, there more where that came from. This team's gonna be beautiful to watch the next couple of years.

That's a great accomplishment for the rookie. The only think i want to see from him now is CONSISTENCY. If he pulls another Tenn game against the Steelers, everyone on here will second guess him. He's showed us he can play / throw / 2Min drills etc. Now we just need consistency, something Sanchez was erratic through a most of his time here.
