Since i doubt Petty is ready to be a real #2, the Jets will have to sign someone to back Fitz up.\ Some here talking about Bowles needing to do this or that - imo nothing we have heard about this year in prticular makes this particular event foreseeable. This is on IK and probably Smith, not the HC. Sure he needs to make clear it is unacceptable, which began with cutting IK. And if Smith is found to have been contributing to the fight, he needs to be discplined too regardless of him being the one who got hit. But blaming Bowles? We don't have the info to do that at this point.
the 'circus' is and always has been the media themselves.. i seriously doubt Bowles somehow created an environment where punching a QB was acceptable or encouraged.
Its weird, you dont just get sucker punched in the Jaw. These guys must have really been going at it and the fact that noone broke it up or defused the situation is troubling.
This will work out just the opposite of Bledsoe-Brady, IK will get picked up by the Pats and go on to be the next Jack Lambert
How in the world did no one break this up? Where were Revis and Marshall? Where was Mangold? Where was ANYONE?
It's stupid to blame Bowles. IK was released almost immediately...job done. No one knows what happened if teammates got irate over it or did nothing.
This team just can't avoid doing boneheaded moves. Even with Rex gone, the idiocy reigns. I have ZERO enthusiasm for this season. first off, I loved the signing of Fitzmagic. I have no issue with him starting. But Geno was actually making strides. Geno has been MUCH better with healthy/decent receivers. And this was his best arsenal yet. There is much more value in seeing if he bombs or can be a franchise QB then fitz for half a season and moving back to Geno out of pure obligation/principle. It would have been hundreds of times better if Geno flopped and Fitz took over week 8. This nonsense basically makes this season a waste.
No one diffused the situation because it was a sudden insane act by a crazy individual. I'm sure guys argue and jaw at each other all day, no one expected Geno to be hit so hard his jaw is broken.

Between this crap, Sheldon losing his mind and Made of Glass Milliner getting hurt again this summer for this team has been a real kick in the balls
Also I don't get why Geno can't play with a busted jaw. Derek Stepan broke his jaw in a Rangers playoff game, had surgery and was back on the ice 4 days later all wired up and scored on his first shift. It's not like they can't armor Smith up
looks like everyone got everything they wanted. I will be watching plenty of Michigan State Football this year.
We don't know how it went down. If he warned Geno to get his finger out of his face and he didn't....? Maybe his teammates saw Geno acting like an ass? We don't know.
