At least it happened before any of the preseason games. It would have been much worse if Fitz didn't have time to prepare with the first team.
Yes, somebody having their jaw broken by a psycho is Karma for an airplane banner? I suppose the whole Pat organization should be nuked from orbit for illegal dealings, or perhaps your coaches and front office staff drawn and quartered for being quasi ok with Hernandez being an idiot leading to the eventual death of somebody? Take that nonsense elsewhere.
What isn't funny is that we haven't had a good qb in so long (other than favre for a year) that I can't remember the last one the whole fanbase cared about..it wasn't pennington, it wasn't sanchez, it isn't smith...I wonder who it was, probably Testaverde.
We don't know the full story and regardless, there is no excuse to break your starting QBs jaw with a sucker punch. Trying to blame Smith in this situation is lame, there is no excuse for it, regardless. If Smith was acting like an immature bitch, then there are other ways to handle that. This was not one of them.
Is that picture after he broke his jaw? What a trooper. If this kid can come back from all the adversity he has faced over the years and lead this team it will speak greatly of his character. Oh, and fuck IK. I was pulling for the guy. If you're so butthurt by being pointed at, square up and engage like a man.
Ftr, no one should think you are piling on Smith. It is a fair assessment. Geno has shown minimal improvements, but this was just another set back and I think most were never clearly impressed with Geno. I for one was excited when we got him, went to his first game, and then boom! He turned into bad decision making QB, which is a special skill Jets tend to acquire.
It takes two to tango. Until the facts come out it is hard to believe that Geno Smith was a pillar of leadership and maturity in that locker room.
dude theres healing time before he can come back to play by doctors orders and then there's actually playing and getting crushed by 300lb lineman right to the face. He's gonna lose weight from this - hell in 2013 he lost lots of weight and he didnt even have a wired jaw! , he's gonna lose lots of practice time, he's already lost momentum, he'll be coming back with a larger mask and he's already been shown to be quite skittish in the pocket after big hits, that's gonna be worse with a healing jaw. its not like he was the toughest QB or very good at dealing with adversity anyway... you need to temper your expectations man. he's basically shot for 2015. We're talking a mid-season return to a 3-5/2-4 ish Jets team where he's considerably behind the rest of the league in terms of in season progress and if they do decide to play him then he will playing skittish for a couple weeks. a couple rough outings as he get back into things and the Jets are 3-7/2-6 ish.... then were getting into Petty time basically and so who cares at that point.
