http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating It's all in the numbers. 27th in the league. Tied for most interceptions. Right now he sucks. Strap in fellas... We're losing the next 4 games unless he steps it up.
Lmao. Sr Smith makes every receiver outside of Decker look like childeren on this squad....at 34. Olsen is still better then every TE on this team by a mile. Superb run game, Superb D got the panthers in. Gates is still a top 5 Te in the entire league. Allen is legit, could compete with Decker for the 1. Hilton stretched D better then damn near everyone last year. Tate has only dropped 3 passes/catchable balls since he has entered, has the best target to catch ratio in the entire league since he's entered and some would argue he has the best hands in the league atm. Still shits on every reciever we have, excluding decker. Alex Smith rode jamall charles, that screen game, and superb coaching to the playoffs, and when it was time for him to show up he got stomped. Wilson didn't take that team to the superbowl, the D did. Superb game manager...ill give him that. Smith, Newton, Wilson and Rivers are all better then Geno at this time ill admit but I don't even get what point your trying to make with these examples because everyone knows this. Nobody you listed is borderline scrub. Every reciever/te outside of decker and kerley is practice squad material...and deckers only played 1 game. You go a long way when your qb makes good decisions and doesn't turn it over (hell Trent Dilfer won a SB with absolutly nobody to throw to )...something Geno isn't doing right now hence why we arn't 3-0. Second year qb has his ups and downs...with 1 healthy weapon..and its a surprise? I don't get it...
Can I just add to the discussion that in yesterday's Bears team, Geno Smith faced a secondary that was probably worse than that of the top 25 Colleges in the country, and STILL threw two interceptions? The top 25 colleges probably would have intercepted two more!!
The Bears are in the middle of the pack in passing defense at 16th in yards per game. It's not like we faced Jacksonville.
Agreed But Mark had more talent then Geno to be fair. A deep pool of receivers and a quality tight end in Keller, along with LT out of the backfield which was huge. Holmes in 2010 and probably even Braylon were both better players then Decker (who I really like). Then throw in Cotchery. It's not even close. Geno has Decker and Kerley and thats it right now. Nelson stinks, Salas stinks. Amaro could be a player but has to catch the ball when its thrown to him. The 3 receivers the Jets drafted later on in the Jets have made no impact. It's the same receiving staff as last year plus Decker and with Decker hurt it's probably not even as good. Idzik is rebuilding the roster but the lack of talent around Geno is obvious. They're waiting for guys like Amaro, Saunders, and Evans (IR) to develop into key roles on this team but where does that leave them right now? It leaves them with Geno having to throw balls to Salas and Nelson. That's a huge issue.
Agreed. But he did still throw for 300+ yards. It wasn't like he couldnt move the ball on them. He did. But his decision making, particularly in the red zone was brutal. If he couldnt move the ball on them at all that would have been a big red flag.
I understand that, but they lost two players in the secondary for last night's game! They were starting two subs!
