Eric Hinske with a pinch hit 2 run homer off of Romo! He was down 0-2 but fought back and then hooked one inside the right field foul pole. 2-1 Braves and now Sanchez cannot get the win, despite an excellent performance (7.1 IP, 2 H).
Heyward screwed by home plate umpire. Two of the "strikes" were off the plate. He gets unfairly punched out for the first out of the bottom of the 9th.
Cox has no one to blame but himself. It's not like Brooks Conrad sucking at defense is a new thing--there's no way that he should've been playing the field with a one run lead in the 9th. I feel bad for the Braves, because they've fought through so many injuries to get to this point. But I just can't see them winning 2 straight after that loss...that was crushing.
Why feel bad? Mismanagement is killing them this series. Cox is gone this year, hopefully whoever is taking over understands how rotations work, when it's time to make defensive subs and how to manage a game without getting tossed in the 2nd inning.
I think Cox screwed up with his bench too. Sanchez was at 105 pitches, and he pinch hits Glaus for a regular. Of course Bochy then pulled Sanchez, and he was ready to come out anyway, and Cox then pinch hit again. Talk about getting outmaneuvered.
Giants pen really needs to get their shit together. Romo and Ramirez suck. Wilson is good, but he is unreliable as of late.
I just feel bad because the Braves have a ton of players that I really like (Heyward, Hudson, Chipper, Melky, and McCann) and they've fought through a lot only to lose in the most painful way in the playoffs. Plus, the rapidly expanding Giants bandwagon is starting to get on my nerves.
I heard he is selling peanuts and cracker jacks tonight. He will also throw them at the fans. He likes throwing things, like games.
