We don't need another USC QB. Plus, he has a bad attitude. Palmer burned bridges with the Bengals and wouldn't take a pay cut with the Raiders.
and sign Leinhart! it'll be a Trojan circle jerk! :breakdance: Given the whole QB competition thing I wouldn't mind him if the price was right. I think he would understand the situation if he were to join the Jets that nothing is garunteed and he may only be here for 2 years if successful. I also think moving him here would facilitate removing both Tebow and possibly McElroy from the equation. But really something tells me the price will be over what the Jets can take for a man not necessarily sure to start. he won't take vet min for sure. I'd take him as a stop gap, but that looks to be off the cards.
I keep reading this sentence. I think I'm losing my mind. There has to start being...? My God. It's full of stars.
I will take him for 1 year 4 mil as a stop gap until we get our guy thru draft. But I am sure he won't come cheap so pass.
Seems to contradict everything else the JETS are doing....... doesn't make sense, aside from him being better than any other current JETS QB
I don't see how we could afford him but if that's not an issue he would clearly be the best QB on the roster.
Are we trying to win now, or rebuild this roster? Bringing Palmer in doesn't do anything for us if we are trying to rebuild the team. Only prolong it
Bringing in QBs that Mark has already beating handily isn't exactly finding someone better than Mark.....
Garrard is already McElroys death knell. The Jets will eventually draft Sanchez successor, who will supplant Garrard in a year or two, then challenge Sanchez at some point.
The problem with taking Palmer is he has already allegedly turned down $10 million to play for the Raiders. He does not appear to be the kind of guy who will take a low/medium salary. The good news is signing him or any veteran QB would likely mean the release of Sanchez. While I am all for addition by subtraction by removing Sanchez the team the math does not add up with Palmer. I would much rather see us sign Kolb and then immediately improve our team by kicking Sanchez to the curb. We have so far only signed bargain basement, close to minimum salary, hold the fort, depth type players. I don't see us reversing course and suddenly spending money on a guy like Palmer. The report does not sound believable until we at least hear it form a reputable source.
People are really saying no thanks? A revamped defense that will be top 10 in the NFL, Palmer, a revamped offense, and a competent OC takes this team to the playoffs next year. This team is not getting a top 3 pick next year even with Sanchez. Might as well try for the playoffs. And Carson Palmer gets us there.
We will hear this from "sources" from every single "reporter" till the season starts. And even into it.
yeah, with the new regime the "reporters" are really grasping at straws for scoops. Like Mehta saying it was a sure thing that the Jets would sign Kolb the instant he was released and that he would be the Jets' week 1 starter. Granted, it could still happen, but he's been a FA for a few weeks now and we haven't even heard of the Jets reaching out to him
