What do you want him to say? It’s the same situation Rex was in back in 2012. He’s their QB so he’s got to back him publicly. I’m sure behind closed doors he knows he’s screwed. There is no Mike White around to save him.

Garrett Wilson asked if the #Jets did enough to exploit #Patriots banged up secondary: “No.
” Asked if game planning, play design played a role: “That’s above my pay grade.”

The #Jets unwavering commitment to Zach Wilson is sooner to end at unemployment line than playoffs. "We have to be better around him." No. Stop coddling. It's Year 3. Go get Wentz, Ryan, McCoy. Open the competition.

Saleh is definitely flawed, but nobody is winning in this league with Zach Wilson (minus a Geno level turnaround) as their QB.

Imagine working your whole life to become an NFL Head Coach and when you finally get your shot it is completely sunk by a QB who is among the biggest draft busts we have ever seen.

Ultimately Woody gave both he and JD a pass for last year, but they screwed up MASSIVELY by making him the backup. This very well may cost them their jobs.

I also never bought into the hype of this season. The Jets made their offseason plans all about one guy. A great player in his prime but now 40 years old and in the twilight of his career. It's what desperate teams do to inject optimism into their downtrodden fan base.

Nobody should be surprised that the season imploded. Only surprise is how early it occurred.

Perhaps the Aaron will take the headset from Nate Hackett in a couple of weeks and the offense will start to click.

Saleh can go with his over the top gaslighting regarding the QB situation; the man lost the locker room over Zach a year ago, and is repeating the same exact script this season as if last year was a dress rehearsal.

I have been a huge believer in Joe Douglas. Him helming the Jets roster is a big positive to me, and I'm still in on him because I think he is a good evaluator who has put together a well above-average roster that is ready to compete.

But if he gets fired I'll have no argument. You can't be this completely f*cking blind to how destructive Zach Wilson is to this team's chances of winning and expect to get away with it. And he's had plenty of time and leash to see the blatant, viral, void of black-hole-suck that is Zach Wilson taking NFL snaps - what so many people, fans, media pundits, other NFL execs have been screaming/laughing about for over a year now.

Going for Rodgers was the move; I'm fine with it. But in making that move you're acknowledging that Zach Wilson was simply unfit to quarterback a roster that you openly believe was ready to compete at the highest level. If you believe this roster is championship caliber with Aaron Rodgers, but they finished 7-10 because of the mess started by believing in Zach Wilson, then you know EXACTLY what he brings to the table. Putting any reliance on the kid heading into this year - ANY AT ALL - is gross negligence, because it was completely and totally unnecessary.

I'd be sad and frustrated if JD got fired because I still believe in him, but I'd have no argument against it. You can be a great employee in multiple important categories, but if you have a blind spot concerning a vital area or specific worker, it will almost always negate everything else that you do well and leave you jobless.

This was such an obvious deficiency and so easily avoidable. Damn it, Joe. :(

He’s allowed Zach Wilson to sink 3 seasons.

Yup…if this season continues as is, and there’s little hope of Zach turning it around, I would not have any problem letting Saleh go

At some point, you have to show SOME progress

This was 100% what my eyes saw.

Any semblance of a QB and you win that game. Good god at the end they had a camera shot of Zach Wilson looking right at Garret Wilson (who you should be looking for ANY excuse to throw at) waltzing across the field right in front of him and didn't appear to even attempt to throw at him. Just awful.

If Aaron Rodgers hadn't gone down in a carnation instant heap the Jets would almost 100% certainly be at least 2-1 with positive momentum right now and who knows... maybe even 3-0 and Saleh would be looking like George Washington crossing the Delaware.

As far as who is evaluating that Zach Wilson being the unchallenged #2 option this year after last season's display was the way to go I'm going to assume Woody is quasi-forcing that on them. If not I'm afraid that might indeed be a fireable offense. Its not fair to the rest of the team to keep putting this kid out there.

Completely agree. I still believe in what Joe Douglas is trying to do here, but if he does end up getting fired, I can't fully and really argue against it either

At some point they gotta start winning. 5 years of losing, Douglas can let himself out

I was the opposite haha. I was never sold on Zach but I liked the Saleh hire, I thought he had the potential to be a great man manager, motivator, and head coach. Oh well.

Same here-- check the receipts in the 2023 prediction thread. I figured AR would spend a significant amount of time out, behind the leaky OL, and with no one but Zach to come in, we'd be outside the playoffs looking in again. I couldn't believe they let Mike White go, he would have been a much better backup.

But I didn't foresee the immediate and complete collapse like this.

Saleh works for Douglas! How can you knock Saleh and give Douglas a pass when Douglas is the guy to get a new quarterback and has refused to do so? He's got guys knocking on his door and he's chasing them away!

Where do you get this from? Joe Douglas hires the talent; that's where the buck stops. The only times it has been apparent that Woody Johnson had anything to do with a personnel decision is when it was made for marketing purposes to sell seats. Think Tebow, Favre and Rodgers.

You could read that as an indictment of the GM roster building. Saleh isn't really the master of nuance but he might not have realized the implication?

Right, that's why I'm saying if he got fired, I'd have no argument.

If you're asking why I have more faith in Douglas than I do Saleh, it's because I personally like the rest of the former's resume much more than I do the latter's. Basically I personally believe in more of what I've seen from Douglas than what I've seen from Saleh. But yes, they are connected, and they've gone out of their way to emphasize that synchrony for sure - which almost always ends up poorly in employment situations.
