I live in Tampa, I get it all the time. Like you I'm still not convinced. They played the NFC West this year, got swept by the division leader Atlanta Falcons. Wanna see Josh Freeman do it against the top teams like Mark has done before we give respect to Freeman. I still think he'll be a great QB in the future but he doesn't have the intangibles our QB does as of right now.
how cool would be to see only a couple of comeback wins due to the jets overwhelming margin of victories in the other 11 or 12 wins? sign me up.
Before we get carried away, let's not forget that Sanchez was only batting around .500 in late game situations this past season with the ball in his hands needing a score to win or tie - wins against Detroit, Cleveland, Houston and Indy with losses against Baltimore, Green Bay, Miami and Chicago. Hopefully he gets closer to 1.000 this coming season.
Agreed but not every QB is going to be Peyton Manning. And even then Peyton Manning hasn't brought his team back 100% of the time. Still a lot of room for improvement for Mark but I like what I saw from yr 1 to year 2. And you never know what couldve been if Keller doesn't run oob a yard short of the first down marker in the season opener. Don't forget @ Denver too.
If you think he's going to do it every single time you're crazy. No QB can do it every time, if that was the case they'd never lose a game and go 19-0 every year. 2nd year in the league and he's at .500. That's amazing. We can get carried away because this kid came out of school pretty raw as a QB and has showed elite intangibles.
I always feel bad for teams that come back but still lose. Even the Colts against the Pats last year.
I don't think he's going to do it every time. I love that he's our QB and think he's done a great job, but he's not as clutch as he's portrayed. I'd guess the same could be said for most sportsmen who get the 'clutch' label. It rarely marries the facts.
You can also make an argument for what happened in those games. Baltimore and Miami were a playcalling philosophy debacle. Green Bay was WR dropping passes and weird INT/Fumble turnovers. Chicago was the defense breaking down against Cutler for the 3rd quarter alone. If you're QB has to constantly bring the team from behind in the final minutes he's not going to do it at some point. But if they do it more often than not, their clutch. That's why I go for 60%.
I don't know about that. He rises to the occasion in the games biggest situations. I think he's the definition of clutch.
In his short 2 year career he's played his best football in the postseason, and this year he played his best football at the end of the games when we needed him to.
It's funny, in those 3 games there was a TD dropped in the 4th each time (Holmes twice and Keller) Sanchez could of very well had 3 more 4th QTR comebacks to add to his resume Granted the dude played like shit in the first 3 QTRs in the G.B. and Miami game but there were plays that should of been finished by our WRs and TEs Mark Sanchez - The next comeback kid? He may never be on the level of Joe Montana but you can see the willingness to put it together when his team is down ... similar to Montana
