Hahaha... I been trying to get a friend of mine to watch the series because I think he would like it despite not being a fantasy genre guy. He watched a couple of eps and was really into Ned's character and was like, wtf with him getting taken by the Queen. I told him loosely not to get attached to characters because the author will kill any of them. I think he's given up on watching it... he can't see the point of wasting such great characters like Bean and Addy.. lol I think that is what separates this story from most. It is more gritty and real... good and bad guys die alike. Knowing your fave character could be next gives the read a sort of edge to it because... it could happen. And not in the awful Buffy way where they find 8 ways to bring the star back. Dead is dead.

What was with Cersei being so mad at Ned for calling her out also? That was so dumb. Even though he was gimpy Ned, he did the right thing. How could Cersei be mad when she was the wrong one? Dumb story.
I'm not sure what you were expecting but I thought they did a great job wrapping up the season while also planting the seeds for the next season. It's book 1 of a much larger series, it wasn't going to be entirely self contained.

A simpleton like yourself would compare this show to a soap opera. Game of Thrones is one of the best shows on television. The posters defending it in this thread are not the only people that see that - it will win numerous awards and continue to be a successful series. Did you actually just ask that?
