I will retract that statement. The little imp is a great character. I was mainly referring to the Queen, the little twat prince, the dragon pussy, and the guy who guarded the King's room when he was having an orgy.
Yeah the imp is a great character. I agree with the rest. I guess I am going to keep asking questions I shouldn't. Is the current King going to go batshit crazy like the dragon douches dad? He seems like he is on the fast track to the Betty Ford clinic at the very least. I am digging this show it has a modern touch to the characters set in god knows when medieval times. I guess the reason people like the books so much, is, the author really gets human nature. In the end these are good characters with interesting stories.
Yesterday I broke my own rules regarding books that say "now a hit series" or "now a major motion picture" on the cover. Short of a few small things, I feel like I'm reading the script of the first few episodes. Really good. Definitely making my two hour reverse commute(FU LIRR) more bearable. -X-
The Imp is the best... Dinklage is owning the shit outta that role. I'm smelling an Oscar/Emmy or whatever half-wit award they give out for those performances. Best midget in a cable series. In the books I also loved Jon Snow's character, but so far Harrington's not doing much for me. Its gotten a bit better of late with his part after taking the black, but we will have to see.
So I said I'd wait, and I have to say, this show is incredible so far. It's the first must-watch series I've had WITH the wife since Carnivale (we have very different tastes, so its hard to find a show that we both want to watch). The directing and acting are both top notch, and from everyone's comments it appears that the storytelling is following the excellent source material very closely. The pacing has slowed down considerably these last two episodes, but it still manages to keep you interested the entire time. Feels like they're gearing up for all the tangential storylines to explode shortly. My two favorite characters are The Imp, and Aidan Gillen's Baelish (<- excellent choice for that type of role. just enough of an slimeball aura to him). Looking forward to the rest of the season, then I'll pick up the books while I wait for Season 2.
I recorded the first four episodes of this and have watched them on consecutive nights. It's shaping up to be a really special series. The Imp is one of the best characters I've seen on TV for a long time.
I remember really liking him the first time I read the books also but on a re-read he kind of annoyed me. He's a little too perfect/a stereotypical fantasy hero type. It was good to see something with Theon finally, it seemed like they were cutting him out and I thought his character was pretty interesting through the first couple books.
Theon Greyjoy is the Starks' ward. Robb Stark is in charge of Winterfell while his father is the King's Hand. He's also Ned's eldest. Theon doesn't have any power at Winterfell. He's from Pyke.
