And for anyone saying Bran wasn't planning this whole thing, look who is sitting next to Ned Stark in the SEASON 1 POSTER!!!
Well, they are working from stuff that has actually been finished with this, even if it was written in a fairly condensed way that gives them tons of room to work, so the opportunities to fuck up the ending completely are reduced you would hope. Interesting that they went with the Dance of Dragons for the spin off, which is about as close to GoT thematically as you can get and gives them all the grand battle and treachery set pieces they could want. It wasn't the first choice iirc, that was something about the first men and got canned quite quickly.
It was decent enough. All the core elements of GoT there including gratuitous sex and violence. Given where they've started I'm expecting this to be a slowish season and mostly set up with an unexpected death or two, maybe a battle on the Stepstones. I just hope they don't go full Mushroom on the plot.
Its already a little predictable though. you just know the protaganist's slutty friend is gonna end up with the King. hopefully we get to see her naked though
Guess I need to stay out of this thread, just started rewatching GOT. Figure I'll be about done by the time season 1 of HOD is over.
The first episode started off pretty weak with how the characters were introduced and the dialogue didn’t really establish interesting conflict, but by the end of the episode I was engaged enough to be interested in the show moving forward.
Anyone still following this? I've been a fan so far. The timehops are getting a little much but thankfully we are done with that. Aemond looks to old compared to the rest of Alicent's children IMO.
It was always going to be that way. They've got about 20 years of build up to get through before the good stuff. They could have just cut to the chase and started about now but then you're going to be filling in the gaps every episode so people understand how we've got to this point. Not liking how they've made the sides very clear cut and black and white: poor wronged Rhaenyra and Rhaenys (Starks); and bad scheming jumped up Hightowers (Lannisters). It really wasn't that way at all in the source material. And Viserys has been cast as quite a decisive and strong (no pun intended) king determined to keep his family together and the realm safe whereas he's totally ineffective and afraid to make any sort of decision for fear of offending someone which is why it all happens ultimately. Not quite sure why they went the way they did with Daemon's wives or where they are going next there. They spent a bit too much time of Criston Cole and a bit too little on the Strongs, particularly Harys. They're the main gripes though and really glad they kept the "strong boys" insult in. That's one of the best lines.
Is this the line during the dinner before everything hit the fan because Aemond is talking about how strong they are? Holy.. thank you for that
Yes. That's the line. I hate that fucking guy. Can't wait until he buys it. I've also made a complete 360 on Daemon. I hated him in the beginning but now I really like him. I doubt they change his outcome though. My ex-wife loves Rhaenyra and Daemon. I told her not to expect a happy ending. I think Laenor gets the only mulligan. Edit: How fucking good is Matt Smith? What an awesome performance. I loved him in The Crown as well. Great actor.
