Our Dline may be just as dominant, but it won't be dominant in the same way as last year. With Harrison our line was 'shut down'. In 2015 teams came in with no running game plan b/c they knew it was pointless. And despite your claims, a BIG part of that was Snacks in the middle. McC has played longer but never been considered a dominant run stuffer. He's better know and for shooting a gap and getting pressure upfield. Hopefully TB can transition our Dline from run stuffer to gap shooter. Maybe it will be even better, I hope so. All I know it was tops in the NFL with Snacks.

This is a passer's league now, where even the most average of QBs is notching 3000 yards a season.

In years past, hole-pluggers like Snacks were worth their weight in gold.

    Not so much now.

Snacks will probably never have the year he had last year again. So in hindsight you're prolly right about Mac making the right move, and then grabbing the two guys he did to fill out the line, McL and Jenkins.

But, and it's neither here nor there at this point, I think you're short changing Snacks. Snacks was dominant last year, and it had little to do with who was around him. Snacks was taking on two, and three guys and still making tackles and plays all year. He showed quickness in small spaces and was all over the line scrimmage. His job was to take on blockers and he was still making plays. He deserved every dime he got. If it doesn't pay off for the Giants that's a good thing tho :)

It was prolly just a matter of time before he breaks down tho too. It's a different approach now and hopefully we will be just as effective.

I have my fingers crossed that Big Cat goes full beast and really makes the difference this year

All true, NFL most definitely a passing league now, has been for 15-20 yrs.

But wasn't too long ago Raiders ran the ball 20 straight times up the middle on us and laughed at us all day. We couldn't stop a nose bleed. Teams will never get to showcase their pass defense if they can't stop the run, especially up the middle. That's why I loved Snacks.....throwing blockers aside and killing the RB before he could even start. Snacks made life sooo much easier for Wilk/Rich/Leondard on the ends.

Oh well I'll drop it for now and just enjoy watching our team kill the Bills, Fish, and Pats!

Oh! Another thing I enjoyed with Snacks is the Jets not getting killed by the play action pass all day long. Faking the handoff to the RB up the middle was a joke against Snacks, and our Secondary/MLBers almost never bit on it.

Snacks or phillystaxx, that is the question.

In other game day news, anyone notice the new punter fairly sucked?

The NFL began a real transition to a passer league when the Ty Law Rule went into effect, but it wasn't until about 5 years ago that we saw a real steep incline in passing numbers, right around the time the lockout happened.

Wasn't too long ago? That game was like 15 years ago. You're reaching.

15 yrs?????? WTF. Seems like last Sunday.

Actually the 'pass happy' league started in 1964 when the run happy NFL lost a bidding war for Namath to the pass happy upstart AFC. The rest is History! Since then the NFL has been nothing more than a long series of rule changes to benefit the passing game, with the biggest one in your post. That's the rule changed that ruined football as we knew it.

Actually the beginning of the end was September 5, 1906 when Bradbury Robinson threw the first forward pass against Carroll College.

It was all downhill from there.

7:20 for a 7:30 game-time and still no game thread to discuss the game. Might as well continue using this thread for Washington...

    Friday, 7:30.

    New York Jets (1-0)
    @
    Washington Redskins (0-1).

The only stream I've found so far is vipboxDOTbiz.
If you've never used it before, DO NOT d/l any "player", just X out of any BS.

Blabseal just came online as I typed this.
