Too much news on Mariota to the Jets...Getting my hopes here, I dont want that. Its way too early and we have hurt ourselves creating such a gap from #1 to #6 pick.

Teams could trade up too and thats the biggest fear here that we miss out on him.

It's been pointed out that Lovie Smith is a "character" guy.

While the football side may dictate Winston to be the choice, I think it's just as likely, if not more likely, that they pass on him.

My guess is if they can get a blockbuster deal involving a solid veteran QB, they'll move down. If not, they'll just sit tight and take Mariota.

Then again, they drafted ASJ, after he was arrested for suspicion of DUI in college. So who knows. Everything said and written is conjecture at this stage of the game.

I'd 99% agree with you, but after watching drafts for so long I never totally rule out when it comes to draft day and what teams do.

Another thing to keep in mind on Mariota is he fumbled 27 times in 3 years at Oregon. That number is likely to go up in the NFL where he is getting hit by bigger, faster, stronger guys who are more skilled at jarring the pigskin loose.

We've all seen what happens when you have fumbling machines like Sancho and Geno (and Vick) at the QB position.

It seems like most QBs who have an issue with ball security will continue to have one no matter how much coaching they get.
