I spent a semester of grad school in Kansas. At that time it was a dry state and they only served 3.2 beer in bars. You could get a drink in private clubs but you had to be a member. I think some counties there still are dry. I had a real good time. Made a lot of friends in a short period of time including women. I liked living in a small Midwest town and enjoyed my time there. You can have a good life anywhere (except maybe Syria) and be miserable everywhere. Never yet been to Nebraska. Only heard (other than here) good things about it. The Cornhuskers are a real big deal. But not sure Mike Riley was a good hire.
The people out in the Midwest and Plains are about as friendly as they get. And its a genuine nice and friendly, not that fake shit they peddle down south. You dont get beer at sports events for the Huskers, which isn't bad because if they did have beer it would be 8 or 9 bucks for 12oz. And with Mike Riley, I'm not sure how he will be, I just know that they are worried about losing the 50+ year old sellout streak if his teams tank.
He's a good coach but not a great coach. That program needs a great coach. Even in Kansas you knew the Huskers were King.
Nice, it's got that 'institution' look to it. Big and well……big…. But as far as college football venues go, it doesn't hold a candle to Michie Stadium, West Point, NY
Ive been to West Point. Great area to see a game. Dont think I've ever seen Army win there though. Its tough for the service academies though.
Very true. It took some getting used to when strangers would smile and wave as you pass each other going down the road. Another thing is that they will look you in the eye and say hello when walking down the sidewalk. People in the northeast look anywhere but in the eye.
I don't want to generalize. But here in the Northeast. I've never even seen people 4 houses down from where I live.
Good buddy of mine from Jersey had at least one nervous breakdown and ending up moving to Nebraska to raise goats. True story. Huge Jets fan.
This one left Jersey, to avoid a nervous breakdown, and was rescued by a night nurse from Gahanna. Off the beltway, and on duty for love.
Harbaugh? At that state up north? lmfao, Dont you find it the least bit disconcerting that you are hoping for Buck Frady's alma matter to dethrone tOSU, because you can't?
And get back to me when you cute little hairless nut fans have a season as dominant as the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers. Litte Ohio State Fuckeye boi Kirk threw a nice tantrum over this.
Kirk is a fag... But...really..the 95 Cornholers? ummm the 1st UNDISPUTED National Champion Ohio State Buckeyes, won a National Championship with their 3rd string QB, Blowing out their competition in the B1G championship, and the Title games. Dont be a hater...it's so beneath you
Greatest on campus college football experience I've ever been to. The cadets marching, the statues of all the military greats, the gorgeous campus. My favorite is how the game ball gets delivered to the ref. First you hear the echo in the background, the far off sound of the choppers bouncing off the cliffs of the Palisades. Then you see the Black Hawks at a distance, coming up the river like its Nam. Then as the approach the stadium, 5 little black specs eject from the choppers. It's not until a few seconds later that, one by one, the chutes open up and the paratroopers start circling the stadium-- out over the river, right over the stadium, out over the river and so forth. And then in a line, they start heading down to field level, each one stepping down right on the emblem at mid-field. And the last one finally touches down, runs up to the ref, unzips his stomach pack and pulls out the game ball and presents it to the ref for play. You can bet THAT football ain't deflated. _
