that is a stupid rule, doesnt make much sense. It should be one way or the other. (personally im leaning towards only the ballcarrier can recover for a touchdown)
Thanks for all the helpful info my fellow GangGreeners. That play was bugging the living sh*t out of me all night long. I wasn't all togother on what the freaking rule was.
Similar to the play in yesterday's game were the touchdowns scored by Logan Mankins and Jeff Saturday in the 2006 AFC title game. Bills tight end Pete Metzelaars scored a touchdown in similar fashion in a game vs Cincinnati in 1986. These types of plays do happen from time to time.
question: if a player fumbles within 2 minutes of the half, or on 4th down, and a different offensive player picks up the fumble, can he lateral it back to the guy who originally fumbled it so that player can keep running?
